Redhawks Fall in Walk Off Fashion to Southern Indiana Saturday

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Alyssa Mumaw hit a two-out, two-RBI walk off double to give Southern Indiana (9-15, 6-1) a 4-3 win over Southeast Missouri (6-19, 2-4) Saturday.

USI trailed 3-2 after six innings and had runners at second and third with two outs after Maddie Carney recorded back-to-back strikeouts.

Mumaw then stepped in and doubled to right center scoring both Kate Satkoski and Elly Robbins to win the game.

Robbins, the sister of SEMO's Abby Robbins, also got the win in relief for the Screaming Eagles.

The Redhawks took their first lead of the game with the help of four-straight hits in the top of the sixth inning.

Lily Delmain singled to left and Kamden Hutton followed with a single to center before Madison Winkler knocked in Delmain. Kinley Wilkins later reached on a fielder's choice and Hutton scored to give the Redhawks a 3-1 advantage.

USI made it a one-run game when it scored once in the bottom of the sixth inning before mounting its comeback in the seventh.

The Screaming Eagles loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the second inning but came away with only one run thanks to freshman Summer Branch.

Branch relieved starter Elliott Stinson and pitched out of the jam when she got leadoff hitter Caroline Stapleton to line into a double play and Katelyn Marx to groundout to second. USI did, however, pull ahead, 1-0, when Satkoski scored on a walk.

SEMO tied things up in the top of the fifth when Addy Martinie doubled, advanced to third on a single by Gracie Luna and scored on a sacrifice fly by Raigan Brannon.

Carney (2-8) took the loss in relief. She was the third pitcher for SEMO in the game. Carney worked 3.1 innings allowing three runs on four hits and matching a career-high six strikeouts.

Overall, SEMO pitchers walked eight hitters and USI left 12 runners on base in the contest.

Robbins (5-5) allowed one hit and struck out one in two innings. Her lone strikeout was against her sister, Abby.

Hutton went 2-for-3 with a run scored to lead SEMO which outhit USI, 7-6.

The Redhawks and Screaming Eagles conclude their series with a 12 p.m., CT doubleheader Sunday.
