MARTIN, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri (6-16, 2-1) dropped its series-opener to UT Martin (14-12, 2-2) by a score of 4-0 Friday afternoon at Bettye Giles Field.
Sami Scholtz threw a complete game no-hitter with one strikeout to key the win for the Skyhawks.
SEMO had four baserunners in the game, three which reached on a walk and the other getting on base via hit by pitch.
UTM scored once in the first, third, fourth and sixth innings to give Scholtz the run support she needed.
Scholtz moved to 3-3 this season.
Maddie Carney (2-7) allowed four runs on eight hits, struck out one and walked two in 5.1 innings.
Willow Van Haren pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief.
The Skyhawks had eight hits in the contest.
SEMO and UTM wrap up their series with a 12 p.m., CT doubleheader Saturday.
