Redhawks Drop Doubleheader to #12 Mississippi State Tuesday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Southeast Missouri (6-15) dropped a doubleheader to #12 Mississippi State (26-2) Tuesday at Nusz Park. MSU posted a pair of shutout wins by scores of 9-0 and 4-0.

Leila Ammon threw a no-hit shutout with seven strikeouts and no walks in five innings to lead MSU to its shortened victory in game one.

The Bulldogs sent 11 hitters to the plate as part of a seven-run first inning and didn't let up.

MSU added one more run in the second and fourth innings to finish off its shutout.

The Bulldogs had nine hits in the game and SEMO had just one runner on base.

In game two, Peja Goold and Delainey Everett combined on a four-hit shutout.

Aubrie Shore, Madison Winkler, Kinley Wilkins and Gracie Luna each had a hit.

Down, 1-0, the Redhawks were close to tying the game in the top of the third inning. With two outs and a runner on second, Winkler doubled to left center, but Lesleigh Maynard was thrown out at the plate.

MSU then scored twice in the bottom of the third and once more in the sixth.

Everett (1-0) was credited with the win and Alyssa Faircloth picked up the save. Faircloth struck out five of the six hitters she faced.
