CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Taylor Ingle and
Reagan Sams picked up Midwest Independent Conference weekly awards for the second-straight week, the league announced Wednesday morning.
Ingle secured MIC 'Gymnast of the Week' while Sams picked up 'Newcomer of the Week' honors for their performances at the Windy City Invite last Friday night.
Taylor Ingle captured her first all-around title of the season on Friday night, turning in a 39.075 in her 18
th-straight all-around competition. She tied for first on vault (9.800), took fourth on bars (9.700), placed fifth on beam (9.775), and captured an outright floor title with a 9.800.
Through two meets this season, Ingle has a point total of 77.775 which is nearly 20 points higher than the next Gymhawk. Her best event so far this season comes on the floor as she has a combined score of 19.650.
Reagan Sams captured her second-straight beam title this past weekend in Chicago after capturing first on opening weekend in Cape Girardeau. Sams scored a 9.825 to finish in first place with teammates
Jaidan Kossuth and
Leah Parton (9.825).
Her score marked a new season-high after she recorded a 9.800 and an event title at the SEMO Tri-Meet in the season opener (1/9).
For both Ingle and Sams, the awards mark their second of the season for the same honor.
Looking Ahead
SEMO Gymnastics will head to Fayetteville, Arkansas on Friday, January 23, when they take on SEC-member Arkansas. Competition is slated to begin at 7 p.m., CT. at Bud Walton Arena.
