Redhawks Host OVC Leader UT Martin
• Southeast Missouri (9-10, 4-4) continues its home stand when it hosts Ohio Valley Conference leader UT Martin (15-4, 7-1) in midweek action Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m., CT at the Show Me Center.
• SEMO is halfway through a tough season-long four-game home stretch.
• The Redhawks finish off that stand against OVC preseason favorite Little Rock on Jan. 22.
Series Notes
• Tuesday marks the 93rd meeting between Southeast Missouri and UT Martin, Ohio Valley Conference rivals located less than two hours apart.
• SEMO leads the all-time series by a count of 52-40.
• The Redhawks have played the Skyhawks more than any team in the conference.
• The all-time series dates all the way back to 1962.
• SEMO is 38-9 against UTM at the Show Me Center and ended a five-game losing streak in the series with its 90-79 victory at home on Jan. 30, 2025.
• The Skyhawks have won nine of the last 11 meetings between the teams.
Tale of Two Halves
• The Redhawks trailed by more than 20 points at halftime in each of its last two games.
• Southeast Missouri was down, 45-18, against Lindenwood on Jan. 15 and fell behind, 43-21, against SIU Edwardsville on Jan. 17.
• The Redhawks, however, won the second half against each of those teams.
• SEMO outscored LU, 58-43, and SIUE, 34-25, in the final 20 minutes of those contests.
Without a Lead
• Southeast Missouri last led in a game with 17:50 left in the first half against Lindenwood (Jan. 15).
• Marqueas Bell's layup gave SEMO a 5-4 edge at that time.
• Since then, the Redhawks went the rest of that game and all 40 minutes against SIU Edwardsville (Jan. 17) without a lead.
Longest Home Stand
• The Redhawks are halfway through their longest home stand of the season.
• After Tuesday's game vs. UT Martin, Southeast Missouri closes out its four-game stretch against preseason Ohio Valley Conference favorite Little Rock (Jan. 22).
• It is SEMO's longest home stand in OVC play since the Redhawks played five-straight home games vs. SIUE (Jan. 28), Eastern Illinois (Jan. 30), Murray State (Feb. 1), Tennessee Tech (Feb. 4) and Jacksonville State (Feb. 6) during the 2020-21 campaign.
• That year was Brad Korn's first as SEMO's head coach.
OVC Update
• Southeast Missouri is now 4-4 and in a three-way tie for fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference standings.
• SEMO is in that spot with SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois.
• UT Martin is atop the standings at 7-1, while Tennessee State and Little Rock are second with 6-2 records.
• Lindenwood and Morehead State then follow with 5-3 marks.
Korn vs. UT Martin
• Brad Korn is 2-8 all-time against UT Martin.
• Both of those victories came at the Show Me Center.
• Southeast Missouri beat the Skyhawks, 76-69, on Feb. 24, 2022 and, 90-79, on Jan. 30, 2025 for those wins with Korn at the helm.
Terry Playing Well
• Brendan Terry put together his best game of the season to date when he poured in a career-high 30 points off the bench to lead Southeast Missouri to its 84-76 win at Southern Indiana (Jan. 8).
• Terry, who scored 17 points in the first half, finished at 13-of-16 from the field. He also made two 3-pointers, grabbed a game-high eight rebounds, dished out two assists, had two blocks and two steals in 32 minutes.
• He followed that up with a team-high 13 points at Morehead State (Jan. 10) and 10 points vs. Lindenwood (Jan. 15).
• Terry was averaging under nine points before the Southern Indiana game on Jan. 8. Now, he is SEMO's third-leading scorer with 10.1 points per game.
• He scored double figures in four of his last five games and returned to the starting lineup vs. Lindenwood (Jan. 15).
Ward Second in Free Throw Percentage in OVC Play
• BJ Ward has missed only one free throw in Ohio Valley Conference play.
• Ward is 20-of-21 (.952) at the free throw line.
• He made 24 free throws in a row before his first miss in a conference game vs. Lindenwood (Jan. 15) with 10:02 left to play in the second half.
• Ward is Southeast Missouri's top free throw shooter at 86 percent (37-of-43) this season.
About UT Martin
• Ohio Valley Conference leader UT Martin comes to Cape Girardeau on a seven-game winning streak.
• UTM is 15-4 overall and 7-1 in the OVC. Its 15 wins lead the conference.
• The Skyhawks have 13 players represented from 11 different countries on their roster.
• UTM leads the OVC in scoring defense (64.1 ppg allowed), scoring margin (+9.8), field goal percentage defense (.385), 3-point field goal percentage defense (.272), rebounding offense (41.6 rpg), rebounding margin (+8.7) and blocks (4.8 bpg).
