CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri Gymnastics notched three Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) award winners following the first week of the season, the league announced on Wednesday morning.

Taylor Ingle and
Nyah Reader and sophomore
Reagan Sams won Gymnast, Coaches Choice, and Newcomer of the Week honors, respectively, following their performances at the SEMO Tri-Meet last Friday (1/9).
Taylor Ingle
Ingle soared into the 2026 season coming off a stellar 2025 campaign that saw her reach the NCAA Gymnastics Regional as she competed in her 17
th-straight all-around on Friday night. Ingle posted a 38.700 including an impressive 9.875 on Bars resulting in a second-place finish.
She tied for first on the vault (9.825) and tied for second on the floor with fellow award winner
Nyah Reader (9.825). Ingle finished the meet in third place in the all-around.
Nyah Reader
Graduate student
Nyah Reader was awarded this week's Coaches Choice Award given to a gymnast in the MIC that exemplified quality performance, leadership, and team-spirit throughout the week.
Reader, who battled back from injuries in 2025, returned to her top form on Friday night as she turned in a 9.850 on the floor which tied a career-high for the Rexford, N.Y.-native. Reader also took home an event title with a 9.800 on the beam.
For Reader, the award marks the first of her career in a Gymhawk leotard.
Reagan Sams
Sophomore
Reagan Sams competed in her first meet as a Gymhawk on Friday night after transferring from Ohio State. Sams tied with
Nyah Reader on the Beam for a first-place finish with a 9.800. Sams also competed on the floor, turning in a 9.525 in the final rotation.
The award marks the first of Sams' SEMO career.

SEMO Gymnastics will take their talents to Chicago, Illinois on Friday, January 16, when they compete at the Windy City Invite. Competition is slated to begin at 7 p.m., CT.
