CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri announced the signing of Sofia Zemtsova Wednesday afternoon. Zemtsova will join Coach Brooks and the Redhawks in the fall of 2025. 

Sofia Zemtsova is from Pyatigorsk, Russia and comes to SEMO as a junior transfer from Christian Brothers University.

While at CBU she was named the Gulf South Conference 2024 freshman of the year and 1st-Team All-Conference. Zemtsova's highest UTR rating is 8.8 and reached a WTN rating of 16.8.

Along with being a successful athlete on the court, Sofia excels in the classroom too. She has made the Dean's list, has a 3.95 GPA, and majors in Business Administration.

Head Coach Steve Brooks is excited about her joining the Redhawks stating, "I'm really excited to add her to our squad! Her work ethic on and off the court fits in well with our team and how we are trying to improve. I saw her play this fall where she beat our previous No. 1 in straight sets. She passed up a scholarship from SIUE to come and join the Redhawks!"
