Redhawks Drop Game Three Against UT Martin After a Late Game Rally

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (8-8, 2-1) dropped game three against UT Martin (9-11, 1-2) by a final score of 6-5 after a late sixth and seventh inning push.

Going into the sixth the Redhawks were down 6-0 with only one hit. Brooklyn Saysoff made it to first on a fielder's choice then advanced to second on a ground out by Sydney Melton.

Gracie Luna stepped up to the plate and sent the ball flying over the left field fence for her first home run of the season and third of her career.

Going into the seventh the Redhawks were down by four. Madison Winkler walked and Sydney Dennis singled to left field for her third hit of the day. A wild pitch would advance both runners to third and second.

Saysoff then singled over the second baseman driving home Winkler and Dennis for the third and fourth SEMO runs.

The Skyhawks called starting pitcher Ashtyn Green back into the game. After a dropped fly ball by UTM's Kennedy Brown, Saysoff scored the fifth and final Redhawks run.

RHP Elliot Stinson (1-2) took the loss in the game pitching 1.2 innings allowing four runs on one hit. Willow Van Haren and Delaney Kell relieved for Stinson, both pitching 2.2 innings. Van Haren allowed the other two runs.

Green picked up her sixth win of the season (6-1) allowing zero hits in 1.2 innings pitched.

Dennis led the Redhawks on offense going 4-3, extending her hit streak 12 straight games. Saysoff went 4-1 and scored two runs and batted in two runners.

SEMO and UT Martin both finished with six hits and two errors. Luna and Hailey Burnett recorded the other two hits for the Redhawks. Luna went 4-1 while scoring a run and notching three RBIs.

SEMO travels to Conway and Pine Bluff Ark. to play Central Arkansas and Arkansas-Pine Bluff next Tuesday and Wednesday.
