PINE BLUFF, Ark. –
Gracie Luna went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, two runs scored and tied a career-high four RBI to lead Southeast Missouri (9-9) to a dominating 13-0 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-14) Wednesday.
SEMO scored eight runs in the second inning to key its ninth win of the season.
Ahead, 1-0, Luna led off the top of the second with an infield single and went to second on a
Hailey Burnett base hit.
Kinley Wilkins walked to load the bases and
Sophie Schupp reached on a throwing error allowing Luna to score.
Madison Winkler reached on a fielder's choice to score Burnett before
Tatum Gerwitz knocked in Wilkins and
Sydney Dennis brought in two more runs on a single. Luna then stepped in for the second time in the inning and drove her second home run of the season over the left field wall putting the Redhawks ahead, 9-0.
SEMO added two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings to put the finishing touches on its run-rule win.
Taryn Coon singled for her first career hit that scored
Mary Tutwiler and Schupp delivered a RBI-hit in the fourth.
In the fifth inning, Luna and Burnett each had run-scoring singles to end the 13-0 shutout.
SEMO's 13-run win marked its largest of the season and second by double-digits in 2025.
The Redhawks outhit UAPB, 14-6, with Luna and Burnett turning in three hits apiece. The two combined for four runs and five RBI, as well.
Gerwitz and Coon followed with two hits, while Dennis,
Brooklyn Saysoff, Tutwiler and Schupp recorded one. Tutwiler picked up her first career hit, and Dennis extended her hitting streak to 14 games, the longest of any Redhawk since
Kynzie Wrigley hit safely in 15 consecutive games during the 2021 campaign.
Willow Van Haren (2-0) went the distance in her first career shutout. Van Haren allowed six hits, walked just one and struck out three in five innings.
SEMO returns to Ohio Valley Conference action for a three-game series at Western Illinois on Mar. 14-15.
