Tennis Rolls Past Lincoln Memorial 5-2

HARROGATE, Tenn. - Southeast Missouri tennis (3-5) rolls past Lincoln Memorial University (3-2) 5-2 Friday night at the LMU tennis complex.

In doubles play, Lincoln Memorial captured the doubles point with victories on court three and court one.

The Railsplitters captured their first win defeating Yontha Tadoum and Claudia Casas 6-2 at the No. 3 doubles position. Lucie Palud and R. Carrier-Dulac captured the doubles point winning 6-2 against Lera Valeeva and Kristina Kozakova on court 1.

The freshman and sophomore duo of Mia Mayerová and Maja Bajorek teamed up again and were the lone Redhawk pair to win a doubles match. The pair defeated Marta Melnichenok and Alexandra Ortiz 6-4 on court two.

SEMO dominated singles action, winning five out of the six singles matches. The Redhawks won in straight sets in the five singles matches.

Juliette Demunck captured the first point for the Redhawks on court three winning 6-3, 6-1 against Carla Ramonet. Tadoum finished right after Demunck, beating Mann-Ning Li 6-3, 6-1 at position No. 4.

Valeeva had a very close 3-set match on court one against Marta Melnichenok. Valeeva took the first set 6-1 and fell in the second set 6-3. In the third set Melnichenok ended up winning 6-3.

Bajorek finished after Valeeva and beat Adriana Pellizzari 6-3 in both sets at position No. 2. Kozakova cruised past Mar Garcia Bucosa 6-4, 6-3 and Mia Mayerová finished up the Redhawks day defeating Lucie Palud 6-4, 7-5.

Coach Brooks had this to say about the match, "We were flat in doubles and LMU took advantage. In singles we stayed strong and competed well. Lera had a tough one here, her opponent played strong and the home court was a disadvantage for Lera".

Coach Brooks was impressed with Lincoln Memorial and how well they played. "LMU is a strong and scrappy team. I look forward to them competing in D1 soon," Coach Brooks said.

Southeast Missouri will be back in Harrogate, Tennessee tomorrow as they face Carson Newman University at 12 p.m., CT. and Cumberland University at 3 p.m., CT.
