Redhawks Conclude Tournament ActionÂ
•   Southeast Missouri (4-4) wraps up tournament play at the Best on the Bayou Tournament in Monroe, Louisiana this weekend.
•   SEMO will face Memphis (1:30 p.m.) and tournament host UL Monroe (6:30 p.m.) Friday; Tarleton State (12:30 p.m.) and UL Monroe (5:30 p.m.) Saturday; and Tarleton State (11:30 a.m.) Sunday.
•   The Redhawks play in their third tournament of the season following trips to the Troy University Cardinal Clash (Feb. 13-15) and Chattanooga Frost Classic (Feb. 21-23).
•   This weekend's tournament will be SEMO's final tune-up before Ohio Valley Conference play begins on Mar. 8-9.
Best on the Bayou Field
•   Southeast Missouri (4-4), Memphis (9-6), Tarleton State (11-5) and UL Monroe (8-7) comprise this weekend's Best on the Bayou Tournament field.
•   The three teams SEMO will face are a combined 28-18 so far this season. Tarleton State currently has the best record of the four teams headed to the event with an 11-5 mark.
Series Notes
•   The Redhawks are 3-7 vs. Memphis and 4-7 vs. UL Monroe all-time in its softball history.
•   This year marks the first time Southeast Missouri faces Tarleton State.
•   Mark Redburn will face both UL Monroe and Tarleton State for the first time as head coach. Redburn is 1-0 against Memphis during his career.
Tournament Play
•   Southeast Missouri is 4-4 in tournament play this season after going 2-2 at both the Troy University Cardinal Clash (Feb. 13-15) and Chattanooga Frost Classic (Feb. 22-23).
•   SEMO enters this weekend's Best on the Bayou Tournament after winning four of its last six contests.
•   The Redhawks beat IU Indy, 11-5, and  Missouri Valley Conference member Indiana State, 3-2, for their last two victories on Feb. 22.
Nice Start for Gerwitz
•   Center fielder Tatum Gerwitz is hitting a team-high .440 through her first eight starts this season.
•   Gerwitz hit safely in seven-straight games to start the 2025 campaign and finished with multiple hits four times.
•   She is also a perfect 5-of-5 in stolen bases.
•   Gerwitz ranks third in the Ohio Valley Conference in batting average.
Kell Records First Win of 2025
•   Delaney Kell earned her first win of the 2025 season against IU Indy (Feb. 22).
•   Kell threw three relief innings allowing two runs on two hits. She also struck out one.
•   She became the fourth different SEMO pitcher to get a win early this season.
•   It was the 17th win of Kell's career.
One-Run Games
•   Each of Southeast Missouri's last three games were decided by one run.
•   SEMO won its first one-run game of the season when it edged Indiana State, 3-2, on Feb. 22.
Off and Running
•   Southeast Missouri is 14-of-16 in stolen bases this season.
•   Tatum Gerwitz (5-of-5), Madison Winkler (5-of-5) and Brooklyn Saysoff (2-of-2) combined for 12 of those stolen bases.
•   SEMO ranks third in the Ohio Valley Conference in that category thus far.
Melton's Senior Year Off to a Good Start
•   Senior Sydney Melton is hitting .348 through her first eight games.
•   Melton ranks third on the team in batting average as one of four starters hitting .333 or better.
•   She leads the Redhawks with six doubles and is tied for first on the team with six runs scored.
Double-Digit Hits
•   Southeast Missouri pounded out a season-high 15 hits vs. Alabama State (Feb. 14) and IU Indy (Feb. 22).
•   In its win over IU Indy, five Redhawks finished with multiple hits.Â
•   Brooklyn Saysoff and Tori Bradley paved the way with three hits apiece, while Madison Winkler, Sydney Melton and Brittany Affolter followed close behind with two each.
•   SEMO also scored double figures in runs during those games with a season-best 14 vs. Alabama State and 11 vs. IU Indy.
