CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri track & field cross the river to take on the Don DeNoon Invite Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Southern Illinois University-Carbondale Student Recreation Center.
The meet begins with the field events at 9:00 a.m. CT, with the men's pole vault. The multi events are slated for a 1:00 p.m. start. The running events are scheduled for 2:15 p.m., with the women's 60H prelims. The estimated completion of the meet is at 7:30 p.m. after the men's 4x400m relay race.
Records Broken
Anna Thomason broke the pentathlon record at Indiana Early Bird Invite then broke it again at the Dr. Rick McGuire Invite. The junior broke her own record of 3643 points with a new point total of 3734. During the pentathlon she also broke the SEMOÂ 60m hurdle record with a time of 8.50, breaking the former record of 8.61 set by Brianna Dixon at the 2024 OVC Championship.
Nick Cimmarusti crossed the line at 8:33.92 to break the SEMO Student Recreation center 3000m record at the Redhawks Invite. The record was previously held by Nick Happe of Arizona State with a time of 8:38:00.
At the Dr. Rick McGuire Invite Noah Little and Cimmarusti both broke the 3000m record of 8:17.40 set by Brian Radle in 1989. Little set the new record with an 8:16.08 while Cimmarusti finished with an ending time of 8:16.58.
Paden Lewis threw for a mark of 61' 1.5" at the Dr. Rick McGuire Invite to set a new SEMO record in shot put, breaking the previous record of 60' 11.25" set by Josh Uchtman in 2012.
Where We Rank
At the end of the indoor track season the top 16 performers from each event make it to the NCAA Indoor Championship. The sport is broken up into nine regions, SEMO is in the Midwest Region which includes all the Division One schools from Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois.
Southeast has 12 marks ranked in the top 50 of the country, 17 marks ranked in the top 25 of the Midwest Region, 14 marks ranked first in the OVC and 47 marks in the top five in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Kenyon Johnson ranks 14th in the region in the long jump with a distance of 24' 4.25" and 45th nationally, sixth in the region, and first in OVC in triple jump with a mark of 50' 8.25", achieving these marks at the Redhawks Invite and Indiana Early Bird Meet.
Paden Lewis threw for distances of 61' 1.5" and 74' 6.25" in the shot put and weight throw to rank 34th and tenth in the NCAA, ninth and fourth in the Midwest region and first in the OVC in both events. The senior achieved the shot put at the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational and the weight throw at the Show-Me Showdown.
In the men's and women's 55m Dominic Revels ranks seventh (6.32), Cole Bruenderman 26th (6.46), and Breanna Miles 12th (7.18) in the NCAA. They all achieved this at the Redhawks Invite, Jan. 11th.
In the men's and women's 55m hurdles Marcus Gordon ranks 23rd (7.82), Luis Schadlich ranks 30th (7.97), Anna Thomason ranks fifth (8.13), Brianna Dixon ranks ninth (8.22), Megan Aubuchon ranks 25th (8.57), and Clara Billing ranks 27th (8.59). They all achieved this Jan. 11th at the Redhawks Invite.
Thomason notched 3734 total points to rank 19th regionally, and first in the OVC in the pentathlon. Thomason also has a time of 8.50 in the 60m hurdles, ranking 15th in the region and first in the OVC.
Cole Reinders ranks first in the OVC in the 800m with a time of 1:51.39.
Revels ranks 19th in the Midwest region in the 60m with a time of 6.80.
Miles ranks first in the conference in the 60m, crossing the line at 7.60. The senior also posted a time of 24.20 in the 200-meter for 15th in the region and first in the OVC.
In the men's 5000m rankings Nick Cimmarusti ranks first in the OVC and 18th regionally (14:29.72).
In the women's 4x400 Miles, Sydney Burdine, Erika Mellor, and Laila Hardin are ranked 21st in the region with a time of 3:51.83.
The distance medley relay team of Reinders, Louis Primeau, Justin Splitt, and Byron Sowerby ranks sixth in the Midwest region with a time of 10:15.86.
The distance medley relay team of Lauren Eftink, Mattea Pearsall, Laila Hardin, and Layla Fliege ranks eighth in the region and first in the conference with a time of 12:24.08.
Aarion Jackson is ranked 23rrd in the Midwest region in long jump, jumping a distance of 23' 10.25".
Dixon cleared a height of 5' 7.25" to be ranked first in the conference in the high jump.
Tanner Koontz vaulted over a height of 16' 6.5" to be ranked 19th in the region and first in the OVC and Sullivan Gleason ranks 20th regionally (16' 4.75").
Billing cleared a height of 13' 6.25" to rank 11th in the Midwest region and first in the OVC in the pole vault.
Makenzie Williams is ranked 23rd in the region and first in the OVC in women's weight throw with a distance of 62' 7.25".
Team Rankings
The Southeast Missouri men's track and field team is ranked 80th in the nation with 6.47 points coming from Paden Lewis' weight throw and shot put mark of 74' 6.25" (22.71m) and 61' 1.5" (18.63m).
The team is ranked 16th in the Midwest Region with 51.64 total points and second in the conference with 577.80 points behind Little Rock in first with 660.09 points.
The men's squad teams that are ranked in the top 50 in the nation are the 5000m team (41st), long jump team (22nd), and the pole vault team (35th).
The women's team is ranked 144th in the nation, 20th in the Midwest Region with 17.98 total points and first in the OVC with 549.95 points, 100.77 points ahead of second.

Athletes Of The Week
Paden Lewis has tabbed OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week six out of six weeks for a league high. The senior thrower posted distances of 71' 2.50 and 60' 1.75" for first and third in the weight throw and shot put. The weight throw ranks third in SEMO record books and the shot put ranks fourth in SEMO records.
Clara Billing tabbed OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week for the first time this year. The Swedish native vaulted over a height of 13' 6.25 for ninth, besting 14 other athletes. That mark was a season best and ranks third in the SEMO records and first in the OVC and 52nd in the NCAA.

The Redhawks are back at home next Friday for the Redhawks Invite before the OVC Indoor Championships Feb. 25 - 26, in Indianapolis, Ind.
