Volleyball Stuffs Tennessee Tech, Sweeps Weekend in Cookeville

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. —Southeast Missouri State (10-6, 3-1 OVC) rallied after dropping the first set to defeat Tennessee Tech (5-11, 2-2 OVC) in a four-set match, winning 21-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-20 at the Eblen Center on Friday.

First Set  
- Tennessee Tech took an early 3-0 lead with a kill by Alayna Pierce and a service ace by MK Roberts.  
- Southeast Missouri State responded with a service ace from Bella Powell, leveling the score at 3-3.  
- A series of strong plays, including a service ace by Kara Oxenknecht, saw the Redhawks briefly take a 7-5 lead.  
- Despite the Redhawks' efforts, including a kill by Alaina Lester, the Golden Eagles closed the set with a 25-21 victory, highlighted by Bella Powell's consistent scoring.  

Second Set  
- Southeast Missouri State took an early 4-2 lead with kills from Lucy Arndt and a block error by the Golden Eagles.  
- Tennessee Tech responded to tie the set at 6-6, capitalizing on a service ace by Alayna Pierce.  
- SEMO gained momentum with a 3-1 run, highlighted by a kill from Marin Johnson, moving the score to 9-8.  
- Arndt secured the set 25-23 for the Redhawks with a decisive kill, capping off a tight finish.  

Third Set  
- Southeast Missouri State jumped to a 3-0 lead with a combination of a kill by Oxenknecht and two attack errors by Tennessee Tech.  
- Reagan Nelson added to the visitor's momentum with a kill, pushing the score to 4-1.  
- Tennessee Tech tied the set at 7-7 with a service ace by Tuva Falk.  
- Johnson contributed two kills in succession to help the Redhawks regain a 10-7 advantage.  
- Arndt secured the set for the Redhawks with a decisive kill, closing the set at 25-21.  

Fourth Set  
- Tennessee Tech started strong with Audrey Berkebile registering three early kills, leading to a 3-1 advantage.  
- SEMO's Arndt responded with multiple kills, keeping the visitors within reach as they narrowed the gap to 8-6.  
- A critical service ace by Johnson tied the set at 11-11, sparking a SEMO run that took the lead.  
- SEMO pulled away with a late 6-2 run, including a decisive kill by Ellie Burns, sealing the set 25-20.
