Volleyball Falls Saturday at Eastern Illinois

CHARLESTON, Ill. — Southeast Missouri Volleyball (12-9, 4-4 OVC) fell to Eastern Illinois (11-6, 5-2 OVC) in a four-set match on Saturday at Gardella Family Court with set scores of 18-25, 19-25, 25-23, 21-25.

First Set
- Eastern Illinois initiated the scoring with a kill by Tori Mohesky, assisted by Catalina Rochaix.
- Southeast Missouri responded with a service ace by Destiny Walker, leveling the score early.
- Katherine St. John contributed significantly for the Redhawks with multiple kills, keeping the set close.
- The Panthers capitalized on service and attack errors by Southeast Missouri to close the set at 25-18.

Second Set
- Eastern Illinois started strong with a service ace from Katie Kopshever, pushing the early score to 4-1.
- Marin Johnson contributed multiple kills for the Redhawks, narrowing the gap to 10-12 midway through the set.
- Walker was instrumental for Eastern Illinois, securing three consecutive kills to extend their lead to 16-10.
- St. John kept the Redhawks competitive with timely kills, but Eastern Illinois clinched the set 25-19 with another Walker kill.

Third Set
- Eastern Illinois took an early lead with kills from Emma Schroeder, pushing the score to 3-1.
- Southeast Missouri tied the set at 6-6, highlighted by a kill from Marin Johnson.
- Lucy Arndt's consistent attacking helped Southeast Missouri edge ahead, reaching 19-13.

Fourth Set
- Southeast Missouri State took an early lead with a kill by St. John, assisted by Ellie Burns, making it 1-0.
- Eastern Illinois clawed back with a series of blocks by Rochaix and Anaya Rawlinson, leveling the score at 3-3.
