Redhawks Wrap Homestand Tuesday Versus Southern Illinois
Southeast Missouri Volleyball (11-7) will take a brief pause in Ohio Valley Conference action on Tuesday, October 14, when they host rival Southern Illinois (8-11) in non-conference action. First serve is slated for 6 p.m., CT. at Houck Field House in Cape Girardeau.Â

Series History
The Redhawks and Salukis will meet for the 36
th time on the volleyball court Tuesday night. SIU holds a 24-11 series advantage over the Redhawks, including a five-set victory a season ago in Carbondale, Illinois. The Redhawks last victory over SIU came during the 2021 campaign in a 3-0 sweep of SIU in Cape Girardeau.Â

The Redhawks most recently hosted Southern Indiana in OVC play as the two teams split the series. USI won the opening match on Thursday night by a final score of 3-2. The Redhawks won the opening two sets, 25-19, 25-18, before dropping the final three sets. SEMO rebounded a day later, downing USI in five sets with a dominating fourth and fifth set headlined by
Reagan Nelson who powered the Redhawks to a 4-2 record in league play.Â

League Table
After the first six matches of Ohio Valley Conference play, the Redhawks currently sit in third place with a 4-2 record. SEMO is tied with Tennessee Tech (4-2) but hold the two-match tiebreaker over the Golden Eagles. SEMO trails both Morehead State (5-0) in second place, and league-leading Little Rock (6-0) with 12 OVC matches remaining in 2025.Â

OVC Defensive Player of the Week
Junior libero
Nina Schuberth picked up her second OVC 'Defensive Player of the Week' honors on Monday afternoon. The Yorkville, Illinois-native helped lead SEMO to a 3-2 victory on Friday evening against USI to the tune of 30 digs and five service aces. She finished the week with 50 digs, 5.00 digs-per-set, and six service aces to help SEMO capture its fourth OVC victory of the season. This week's award marks the fourth award for the Redhawks this season.Â

Arndt Assault
Outside hitter
Lucy Arndt continued her offensive prowess this past week against USI, finishing with 20 and 15 kills, respectively. She recorded back-to-back double doubles as well, recording 13 and 11 digs against the Screaming Eagles. She now has 10 double doubles on the season with 15 matches to play in 2025.Â

Career Night
Sophomore
Marin Johnson had a career outing in Thursday's loss to USI. Johnson, a native of Wheaton, Illinois, finished the match with a career best .529 hitting-percentage. She recorded a career-high 19 kills on 34 attacks with just one error.Â

Redhawks Volleyball ranks in the top 10 in the nation in team digs after 18 matches in 2025. The Redhawks have 1,200 digs as a team which ranks them seventh out of 343 teams in Division I volleyball. SEMO also leads the Ohio Valley Conference in team digs,
Nina Schuberth leads the club with 292 digs (4.00 DIG/S).Â

Holy Attacks
The Redhawks are the benefactor of
Lucy Arndt's ability to attack opposing defenses. Arndt ranks sixth in Division I volleyball for total attacks with 856 which ranks her first overall in the OVC. For her career, her highest number of attacks came against Missouri State (9/19) when she registered 74 total attacks in a five-set victory over MSU earlier this season.Â

Freshman outside hitter
Reagan Nelson helped lead the Redhawks to victory on Friday afternoon. The St. Charles, Mo.-native recorded career highs in kills, attempts, and hitting-percentage (with at least 20+ attempts). She finished with 15 kills on 32 total attempts, with two errors, for a .406 hitting-percentage. She played all six rotations in the final two sets and chipped in 12 digs and two block assists in the five-set victory.Â

Aced
Nina Schuberth has been one of the best servers in SEMO Volleyball program history. After setting the service aces program record for a single-season, Schuberth has recorded 29 aces this season over 73 sets. She ranks fifth in the OVC in aces and trails only Kayla Bryant of UTM who has 31. For her career, Nina has recorded 115 aces in three seasons.

Sophomore
Alaina Lester made her presence felt at the net against USI this past week. The Millstadt, Illinois-native recorded a season-high two solo blocks in the opening match against USI and finished with 4.0 total blocks. She followed that up with a season-high five block assists in Friday's match. This season, Lester has recorded 45.0 total blocks and is averaging 0.80 blocks-per-set.Â

Setter
Megan Holder cracked the Top 10 in the Ohio Valley Conference in assists. Through 71 sets played, Holder has dished out 378 total assists and is averaging 5.32 assists-per-set. She currently has 1,088 total assists for her career and recorded a season-high 37 assists against USI on Thursday night, narrowly missing her career-high of 40 from a season ago.Â

Freshman setter
Ellie Burns has continued her strong performance after being inserted into the lineup at Tennessee Tech. Burns has four-straight matches with double-digit assists, concluding the USI series with 18 and 21 assists, respectively. She recorded a career-high 30 assists at Tennessee Tech (10/3) and now has 95 total assists on the season.Â
