Redhawks Set to Compete at Ball State Quad-Meet Sunday
Southeast Missouri Gymnastics will return to competition on Sunday, January 12, when they take part in the Ball State Quad-Meet in Muncie, Indiana. Competition is slated to begin at Noon, CT. from Worthen Arena.Â

Who's There?Â
The Gymhawks will be competing against a familiar opponent and two new opponents to the 2025 season. Ball State and SEMO just competed against one another at the Missouri Quad-Meet last Friday (1/3). The Cardinals downed SEMO by a final score of 194.925-190.475.Â

The Redhawks will square off with Big 10 member, Illinois, and Wisconsin-Eau Claire. A season ago, SEMO took on Illinois at the Illinois Quad-Meet and fell 197.275-192.700.Â

Sunday's meeting will mark the fourth time Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the Redhawks have faced off in competition. The Redhawks hold a 3-0 series advantage over the Blugolds.Â

Last Time Out
Southeast Missouri Gymnastics opened the 2025 campaign at the Missouri Quad-Meet on Friday night and turned in a 190.475 from Mizzou Arena.Â

Floor
The Redhawks began the night on the floor led by
Kailyn Hamilton. The junior recorded a 9.550 to open the scoring for the Gymhawks.Â
Â
Two spots later came Hernandez, as she turned in the highest score of the rotation with her 9.725 from number three.
Taylor Ingle tied her with a 9.725 of her own in spot five.Â
Â
Madison Greene anchored the lineup and turned in a 9.550 and at the end of the rotation, the Redhawks turned in a 47.425.Â

Vault
The Gymhawks would turn to the vault in rotation two, started off by a 9.675 from ingle.
Nyah Reader went above a 9.400 in the third spot of the rotation as she turned in a 9.475.Â

Hernandez continued her hot start, recording a 9.650 just after Reader in spot four.Â
Â
Seniors
Janelle Lopez and
Lindsay Ockler rounded out the rotation in spots five and six, respectively, turning in a 9.525 and 9.550.Â

At the end of two rotations, the Redhawks had a running score of 95.300.

Bars
The Bars rotation was the best rotation of the night for the Gymhawks, headlined by two-time Midwest Independent Conference Bar Champion,
Lindsay Ockler.Â
Â
Ockler, who missed a majority of last season with an injury, anchored the Bars lineup on Friday night and turned in a 9.800, the highest score of any Redhawk all night.Â
Â
Joselene Hernandez started the rotation on bars, turning in her 9.575.
Sydney Crouch and
Kailyn Hamilton were second and third, respectively, recording a 9.425 and 9.575.Â

Taylor Ingle and
Janelle Lopez got it going with a 9.750 and 9.700, respectively, to bring up Ockler as the Redhawks recorded a 48.400 in rotation three. SEMO had a 143.700 heading into the final rotation.Â

Beam
The Beam was headlined by
Nyah Reader who from her sixth position recorded a 9.750 which was the highest score on the rotation.Â

Janelle Lopez turned in a 9.575, followed by
Ailey Kuehn who recorded a 9.500.Â

Redhawks Debuts
Three Redhawks made their debuts in a Gymhawk leotard last Friday night headlined by freshman
Joselene Hernandez who competed in three events. Hernandez recorded her highest score of the night on the floor (9.725) while also competing on vault (9.650) and on bars (9.575).Â

Transfers
Leah Parton and
Jaidan Kossuth also made their SEMO debut on Friday night. Parton took part in both the beam and floor routines registering a 9.025 and an 8.875, respectively. Kossuth competed on the beam, turning in an 8.925.Â

Ockler is Back
Senior
Lindsay Ockler, a two-time MIC Bars Champion, returned to the SEMO lineup at Missouri last Friday night after missing the second half of last season with an injury. She recorded the highest score of the night of all Gymhawks with a 9.800 on the Bars from the anchor position in the lineup.Â

All-Arounder
Junior
Taylor Ingle competed on all four apparatuses at Missouri recording her highest score of the night on the bars (9.750). She recorded a 9.675 on vault, a 9.725 on the floor, and an 8.775 on the beam. Ingle finished the night with a 37.925 in the all-around which placed her fourth overall for the meet.Â

Welcome Back, Nyah Reader
Senior
Nyah Reader returned to competition after missing the 2024 campaign due to injury. The Rexford, New York-native turned in her highest score of the night on the beam, leading the Gymhawks with a 9.750. She also competed on the vault, turning in a 9.475.Â

Where We Rank
After the first week of the season, the Redhawks are ranked number 34 in the country according to 'Road to Nationals'. The Gymhawks have their highest ranking on the bars at number 28. SEMO ranks 33
rd in vault and 34
th in both beam and floor. Illinois State (#17) is the highest ranked MIC opponent after the first week of the season.Â
