Leftrick Earns Spot on FCS Punter of the Year Preseason Watch List

Southeast Missouri's Logan Leftrick was one of 13 players selected to the preseason watch list for the 2024 Football Championship Subdivision Punter of the Year Award, which honors the nation's top collegiate punter in the FCS.

The 13 candidates on the list incorporate a broad spectrum of FCS punters. This year's list was compiled based on the 2023 FCS Punter of the Year Watch List, All-Conference teams and All-America teams.

The FCS Punter of the Year Award winner will be determined by the FCS Punter of the Year Award national voting body which consists of FCS sports information directors and national sports writers.

A native of Springfield, Tennessee, Leftrick started 10 games at punter as a freshman. He averaged 39.8 yards per punt on 53 attempts. Six of his punts sailed over 50 yards and 18 dropped inside the opponent's 20-yard line. Leftrick ranked fourth in the Big South-OVC Association in punting. He is the only Big South-OVC punter on the initial preseason watch list.

About the FCS Punter of the Year Award
The Augusta Sports Council, also home to the Ray Guy Award (awarded to the best collegiate punter in the FBS), created the FCS Punter of the Year Award in 2019 to honor the best collegiate punter playing in the FCS. Among the statistics used to identify the winner is net punting average, number of times punt is downed or kicked out of bounds inside the opponent's 20-yard line, total yardage punted, average returned yardage, and percentage of punts not returned with particular emphasis placed on net punting average. The winner must display team leadership, self-discipline and have a positive impact on the team's success.
