Guard Damarion Walkup Signs with Southeast Missouri

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri signed Olney Central College transfer guard Damarion Walkup Tuesday. Walkup is the sixth transfer joining the Redhawks this upcoming 2024-25 season.
A native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Walkup (6'3", 195) was the Great Rivers Athletic Conference and Region 24 Player of the Year following an outstanding freshman campaign a year ago.
"Damarion brings a level of playmaking, shot-making and a defensive presence to our backcourt," said SEMO Head Coach Brad Korn. "He can play multiple positions and is a competitive winner from his prep days at Warren Central High School under Coach [William] Unseld and junior college days where he won Region 24 Player of the Year under Olney Central Coach Jim Glash."
Walkup led both the Blue Knights and GRAC in scoring with 18.5 points per game and ranked second on the team with 65 three-pointers made. He dished out 44 assists, collected 35 steals and added 11 blocks. Walkup started 15 games and averaged 4.4 rebounds per contest, as well.
Additionally, he averaged a team-best 19.3 points per game in conference play leading OCC to the 2023-24 GRAC title.
"Damarion gelled well with our players during his visit and fits perfectly in our system and the Ohio Valley Conference," added Korn. "He allows us to have a dynamic backcourt."
As a prep, Walkup attended Warren Central High School, which won a state title after going 36-1 his senior year.
Walkup joins fellow transfers Saxton Hoepker (F, Southwestern Illinois College), Brendan Terry (F, Pensacola State College), Teddy Washington Jr. (G, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi), Elliot Lowndes (F, John A. Logan College) and Troy Cole Jr. (G, Highland CC) on this year's roster.
