ST. LOUIS, Mo. - #1 Southeast Missouri (12-7) saw its 2024 season come to an end with a 4-1 loss to #2 SIU Edwardsville (18-3) Sunday in the Ohio Valley Conference Championship.

SIUE secured the doubles point with wins in two of the three matches and took three of the first four singles bouts to claim the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

In doubles action, Fabiola Perez and Cydney Rodgers beat Maja Bajorek and Lera Valeeva, 6-3, in the No. 3 spot and Jill Lambrects and Jordan Schifano edged Trinity Calinescu and Vivian Lai, 7-5, at the No. 2 position.

The Cougars won the first two singles matches in straight sets.

Perez posted a 7-5, 6-2 win over Bajorek in No. 5 singles and Schifano defeated Talieu, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3. Margaux Britt scored the fourth point to clinch the win for SIUE. Britt, after dropping her first set to Calinescu, battled back to win the final two sets in a 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory.

SEMO was this year's OVC regular-season champion and won nine of its final 10 matches of the season.
