Box Score MACOMB, Ill. - Southeast Missouri (6-6) swept their first conference opponent of the season with a 6-1 victory over Western Illinois (2-10) on Tuesday afternoon.
The match started with doubles action as Daniela Hlacikova and Juliette Talieu made very quick work of Lara Diniz de Souza and Paige Grice winning 6-0 at No. 1. Hlacikova and Talieu now have a team best 8-1 record.
For the Redhawks No. 2 pair, Calinescu and Lai, won 6-3 against Agatha Carbonell and Maria Rybka. Then Maja Bajorek and Lera Valeeva defeated Anna-Evelina Trush and Aina Cortina-Pou 6-4 at No. 3.
In singles play, the Redhawks won five out of six matches in straight sets. Valeeva continued right where she left off with a dominating 6-1, 6-0 victory over Aubrey Brumbaugh at No. 6. Calinescu then cruised past Cortina-Pou 6-0, 6-1 for SEMO's second singles point. Lai was victorious over Rybka 6-1, 6-0.
Juliette Talieu won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 against Carbonell and Hlacikova fought past Grice winning 6-4 in set one then cruised to a 6-1 victory in set two. Bradley's Trush defeated Bajorek 6-3, 5-7, 10-8.
