Washington, Jr. Earns OVC Player and Newcomer of the Week Honors

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri guard Teddy Washington, Jr. was named both Ohio Valley Conference Player and Newcomer of the Week Monday.
A native of Blytheville, Arkansas, Washington, Jr. averaged 22.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game leading SEMO to two Ohio Valley Conference wins last week. He opened the week with a double-double 28 points and 10 rebounds in the Redhawks league opening victory over Eastern Illinois (Dec. 19). Two days later, Washington, Jr. had 17 points and seven boards against SIU Edwardsville.
For the week, Washington, Jr. shot 50 percent (14-of-28) from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range (7-of-14). He also went a perfect 10-of-10 at the free throw line, dished out four assists and added two steals.
Washington, Jr. scored double figures in 10 of his last 11 games. He has won three OVC weekly accolades this year.
