17 Student-Athletes Honored Tuesday Night for Fall Commencement

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – 17 Southeast Missouri State Student-Athletes participated in the 2024 Fall Student-Athlete Graduation Reception on Tuesday night held at the Show-Me Center ahead of Saturday's 2024 Fall Commencement.
Of the 17 graduates, five different sports were represented by cheer, football, women's gymnastics, women's soccer, and track & field.
Associate Director of Academics Brooke Hengst began the program with a welcome and opening remarks followed by Senior Woman Administrator Betsy Wilcox, who spoke as well.
Two student-athletes addressed their peers following the opening remarks in Madison Greene of women's gymnastics and Judd Cunningham of football. Greene, who spoke first, will be graduating with a degree in criminal justice.
Cunningham will graduate with a business administration degree.
The reception featured a keynote speaker as Dr. Adam Criblez, the faculty athletics representative, gave his remarks to the graduating class.
Each graduation class is presented with the annual Jewel and Trombetta Award winners, given to a male and female student-athlete with the highest GPA in their class. Clayton Eftink of Track & Field was awarded the Jewel award.
Madison Greene of gymnastics was awarded the Trombetta award for the 2024 December graduating class.
The ceremony concluded with all 17 student-athletes receiving their graduation sash from their respective head coaches.
