Athletics Wins First OVC Institutional Academic Achievement Award

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri's Department of Athletics won its first-ever Ohio Valley Conference Institutional Academic Achievement Award, the league announced Tuesday.
The overall Institutional Academic Achievement Award is presented annually to the member institution with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes that earn a 3.25 grade point average or higher for that academic year.
SEMO had over 75 percent of its student-athletes earn the honor in 2025-26.
"This recognition is a reflection of the commitment and hard work of our student-athletes and the coaches and staff who support them," said Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Brady Barke. "We are incredibly proud of the culture of academic excellence that has been built at SEMO and the way our student-athletes continue to represent the university both in competition and in the classroom."
The Redhawks picked up a conference-leading seven OVC Team Academic Achievement Awards. OVC Team Academic Achievement Awards are presented to each member institution's team in each Conference-sponsored sport with the greatest percentage of its eligible student-athletes achieving a 3.25 or higher GPA.
Men's cross country, women's cross country, football, women's tennis, men's track & field, women's track & field and volleyball claimed OVC Team Academic Achievement Awards.
The awards cap the announcements regarding the OVC's 2025-26 academic awards.
Additionally, 58 Redhawk student-athletes won the OVC Academic Medal of Honor and 197 made the league's Commissioner's Honor Roll.
