PADUCAH, Ken. - Southeast Missouri (0-2) wrapped up it's spring-opening weekend with a 7-0 setback against former Ohio Valley Conference member Murray State (1-0) Saturday.
Trinity Calinescu and Juliette Talieu forced their singles matches to three sets, but came up short in the end. Calinescu was edged by Emma Honore, 4-6, 6-4, 8-10 at the No. 2 spot in the Redhawks lineup. Talieu, competing at No. 3, dropped a tight 5-7, 6-1, 8-10 decision.
Daniela Hlacikova (No. 1), Vivian Lai (No. 4), Lera Valeeva (No. 5) and newcomer Juliette Demunck (No. 6) lost their matches in straight sets. Demunck made her college debut against Marit Kreugel.
In doubles play, the Racers No. 2 team of Sarah Bureau and Annika Pschorr just got past Calinescu and Lai by a score of 7-6 (7). The other two bouts resulted in 6-2 victories completing the sweep for the Racers.
SEMO is back in action when it travels to Western Kentucky on Feb. 2.
