Redhawks Head to Tennessee for Tennessee Collegiate Classic
 Southeast Missouri Gymnastics (1-2-1) will head to Lebanon, Tenn. to take part in the Tennessee Collegiate Classic presented by Meet Authority Productions and USAInvitationalGymnastics.com. Competition is slated to begin at 7 p.m., CT. at the Farm Bureau Exposition Center in Lebanon, Tenn.Â

Who is there?
Friday night's meet will feature four teams, including the Gymhawks. Ball State and Kent State of the Midwest Athletic Conference (MAC), and Wisconsin-Whitewater will be the Redhawks' competition in the classic.Â
Ockler Owns Bars
The 2023 Midwest Independent Conference Bars Champion,
Lindsay Ockler, picked up her first weekly award of 2024 from the conference this past week. Ockler, from Huson, Mont., registered a 9.900 on the Bars rotation last Friday night against Centenary. Ockler finished first overall for the event in the meet, marking her first rotation victory of 2024.
Last season, Lindsay tied a SEMO Gymnastics program record on the Bars when she registered a 9.925 against Texas Woman's (Jan. 27, 2023) a season ago. The score added to a rotation record on the Bars, as the Redhawks registered a 49.325 surpassing the previous record of 49.250.Â

Ockler would go on to win the 2023 MIC Bars Championship and is currently a back-to-back defending champion in the rotation heading into 2024.

Last Time Out
Southeast Missouri Gymnastics defeated Midwest Independent Conference Member Centenary College, 192.350 to 181.325, in their home opener Friday night inside Houck Field House.

Lydia Webb placed first in the all-around category with a total score of 38.025. Webb led the Redhawks on the beam and placed in the top three twice.

The Redhawks recorded a rotation high on the vault in the first rotation of the evening with a score of 48.525. They rounded out the meet with a 48.325 on the uneven bars, 47.775 on the beam, and 47.725 from the floor.

Scouting the Opponent
Ball State
The Cardinals enter the Tennessee Collegiate Classic with a 4-1 record with wins against North Carolina, Utah State, Rutgers at the UNC quad meet. Most recently BSU went 1-1 beating Townson and losing to Ohio State.Â
Â
Ball State senior Victoria Henry and freshman Ashley Szymanski swept this week's Mid-American Conference weekly honors.
Â
Henry led the Cardinals with a 9.975 vault score tying the second-best score in program history. The Senior also notched a 9.900 on the floor finishing with an all-around score of 39.325, the best score in the MAC for the week.

Szymanski earned MAC Specialist of the Week after winning the bars by scoring a 9.900. The effort is the 34th-highest bars score in the nation so far this season.

Overall, the Cardinals counted four scores of 9.900-or-higher at the tri meet.

Head Coach Joanna Saleem enters her 10th year at the helm of BSU gymnastics.

Kent State
The Golden Flashes enter Lebanon with a 1-0 record beating Pittsburgh 194.550-193.700.

The Flashes won on bars, beam, and floor with Sophomore Heidi Schultz placing in the top three on all her events.
Â
Schultz scored 9.825 on the bars and beam placing third and first while achieving a 9.850 on her floor routine.
Â
Karlie Franz Alyssa Guns tallied back-to-back scores of 9.900 for the event title on the floor.
Â
The 2024 Golden Flashes roster features one graduate student, four seniors, five juniors, eight sophomores, and six freshmen.
Â
Kent State gymnastics team was picked to finish fourth in the Mid-American Conference and Guns and Schultz were named to the MAC watchlist.

Bruce Biggin, the 11-time MAC Coach of the Yearis in his 33rd season as the Head Coach of KSU.

Wisconsin-Whitewater
The Warhawks come into the classic coming off a win against UW-Eau Claire and Winona State.Â
Â
UW-Whitewater's best event was the vault in which they swept the top three. Freshman Chloe Hammond notched a 9.600 for first followed by a pair of 9.575s from Ava Pesch and Danielle Dudziak.

Dudziak also notched scores of 9.600 on the floor (3rd) and 9.575 on the beam (4th). The sophomore claimed the all-around title with a total of 37.875 while Hammond finished fourth (37.100).

Dudziak was also named Athlete of the Week by the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for her performances.

Carleigh Moore posted the best score for the Warhawks, scoring a 9.625 on her floor routine.
Â
Jennifer Regan enters her 21st season at the helm of the program having won National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Division III national titles in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2018.

Looking Ahead
The Gymhawks will return to action on Friday, January 26, when they host their second home meet of 2024. Competition is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m., CT. from Houck Field House.Â
