CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Redhawks track and field will compete at their home opener for the 2023-24 indoor season at the Redhawks Invite January 13th. The competition will be held at the SEMO Recreation Center and is free and open to the public.
The Field Events are set to begin at 12:00 p.m with the women's pole vault.
Track events are slated for 3:00 p.m starting with the women's 55m hurdle prelim followed by the men.
Last year 15 individuals placed first and SEMO posted 46 top three performances at the 2023 Redhawks Invite.
Last Time Out
Piper Klinger finished on top of the podium in the women's weight throw. Klinger threw for a distance of 59' 1.25" (18.01m).
Serena Williams placed first in the long jump and in the triple jump with jumps of 5.73-meters in 11.99-meters.
Parker Feuerborn finished first throwing for the distance of 68' 3.75" (20.82m).
Senior
Breanna Miles placed first in the women's 60-meter dash crossing the finish line in 7.433 almost breaking the record which is 7.42. Miles also finished with the silver medal in the women's 300-meter (40.09). Both times were new PR's for Miles.
Marcus Gordon Jr. finished his first race with a gold medal in the men's 60-meter hurdles(8.35).
Sydney Burdine finished in first place in the women's 300-meter with a time of 39.84. Burdine also placed fifth crossing the line in 7.74 in the women's 60-meter.

Marshall Swadley grabs the gold ( 52' 8.75", 16.07m).
Clara Billing finished first in the women's pole vault clearing the height off 12' 7.50" (3.85m).

Record Broken
In her very first indoor meet
Brianna Dixion broke SEMO's indoor high jump record at the Fred Wilt Invitational, Dec. 9.. Dixion is a freshman from Rantoul, Ill. and she placed first in the women's high jump. Dixion cleared the height of 5' 7.75" (1.72m) breaking the previous record of 5' 7.25" set by Angela James in 1991.
Where We Rank
Parker Feuerborn, a graduate student from St. Michael, Minn., ranks first in the nation in the weight throw with a throw of 71' 5.25" (21.77m). Feuerborn achieved this mark at the Saluki Fast Start on Dec. 2.
Marshall Swadley is ranked 20th in the NCAA in the weight throw. The junior from Willard, Mo. threw for a distance of 65'6" (19.96m) at the Edmunds-Wilt Invite Dec. 9th.
Isaac Readnour ranks 23th in the NCAA in the Heptathlon for his 4840 points earned during the John Coughlan invite Dec. 1.
Breanna Miles sped past the line at a time of 7.44 and ranks 16th in the nation in the 60 meters. Miles earned the time December 9, at the Edmunds-Wilt Invite
Brianna Dixion ranks 40th in the NCAA in the high jump (5' 7.75"). The Freshman cleared this height December 9, at the Edmunds-Wilt Invite.
Clara Billing, the sophomore from Rudbecksskolan, Sweden is ranked 47th in the nation after clearing a height of 12' 7.5" in the pole vault.
Serena Williams, a grad student, jumped for a distance of 39' 4" in the triple jump at the Edmunds-Wilt Invite to be ranked 31st in the NCAA.
Grad student and transfer from Penn State,
Piper Klinger ranks 58th in the NCAA in the weight throw (59' 1.25").

Kaitlyn McGinnitey ranks 33rd nationally (3540 points) and
Anna Thomason ranks 37th nationally (3415 points) in the pentathlon.

After the Redhawks Invite, the team will head to Louisville, Ky. Jan. 19, for the Bellarmine Open.
