CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri continues fall action when it hosts the Redhawk Invitational this weekend. SEMO will play at 1 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m., CT Saturday. All matches will be held at the John C. Bierk Tennis Complex.
Western Illinois, SIU Edwardsville and Tennessee Southern will also compete in the event.
Last Time Out
SEMO began its fall season at the Austin Peay Invitational, where it recorded 16 singles and four doubles wins a week ago. Trinity Calinescu and 
Lera Valeeva each went 4-0 in singles play to pace the Redhawks. 
Vivian Lai followed with a 3-1 singles record, while newcomers 
Maja Bajorek, 
Ewa Czapulak and 
Juliette Talieu all picked up wins in their first SEMO competition. Bajorek and Czapulak added two wins apiece. In doubles, Calinescu and Lai posted a team-best 2-2 mark.
About SIUE
Fellow Ohio Valley Conference member SIU Edwardsville is led by reigning OVC Freshman of the Year Amelia Gorman who is off to a 6-0 start this fall. First-Team All-OVC selection Jill Lambrechts finished her first fall competition with a 3-0 single record, while Margaux Guibal Britt is 2-0 thus far. The Cougars fell to the Redhawks, 4-2, in the OVC Tournament title match last season.
About Western Illinois
Western Illinois visits Cape Girardeau for its first action of the fall. A year ago, WIU went 4-14 overall and winless at 0-6 in Summit League play. Lara Rossetto Diniz de Souza earned honorable mention Summit League honors for the Leathernecks. WIU is under the direction of first-year Head Coach Luke Ogren.
 
About Tennessee Southern
NAIA member Tennessee Southern rounds out the four-team Redhawks Invitational field. UTS was picked to finish seventh in the SSAC Preseason Poll. Junior Otone Odajima is back for the Firehawks after earning Second-Team All-MSC honors last spring.
Looking Ahead
SEMO will compete at the ITA Regional in Lawrence, Kansas Oct. 12-16 before wrapping up its fall slate at Central Arkansas (Oct. 27-28).
