ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's soccer (5-3-2, 1-1-1 OVC) picked up their first win in the Ohio Valley Conference on Thursday night at Harlen C. Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. The Redhawks defeated Lindenwood (2-8-1, 0-3-0 OVC) behind goals from
Emma Brune and
Zoe Houston.
Brune got the Redhawks on the board early, once again from a corner kick. This one fell to the feet of Brune who then smashed it into the net to beat Lindenwood goalie Anistine Erika to give SEMO a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute.
Brune finished the match with two shots, including the goal.

Zoe Houston scored the second and final goal of the contest off a beautifully struck free kick from just outside of LU's box.
A foul on Lindenwood setup another set piece with Houston standing over the ball. She struck it to the goalkeeper's left and the ball found the back of the net to seal the deal.
SEMO, despite the victory, lost the shot count in Thursday's match. The Lions outshot SEMO by a total of 12-7, but goalkeeper
Sophia Elfrink continued her impressive season.
Elfrink registered eight saves as the Lions failed to score as Elfrink tied her season-high in saves in the match. The sophomore from Columbia, Mo. now has 36 saves on the season and registered her sixth shutout of the season.

An aggressive contest, the Redhawks registered 15 fouls to Lindenwood's 11 as both teams were assessed a yellow card in the match.
SEMO womens' soccer will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 1, when they take on SIUE. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m., CT. in Edwardsville, Ill.
