Gymnastics Set For 2023 USAG National Championships April 6-8

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo- Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics will travel to Denton, Texas on April 6th-8th for the 2023 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships hosted by Texas Woman's University. The event will be held in the Pioneer Hall and Kitty Magee Arena. 
 
The Field
SEMO will compete in session two on Thursday evening, April 6, at 7 p.m., CT.  against the host and two seed TWU (195.055), sixth seed West Chester (193.925), and seventh seed Yale (193.920). 
 
The field consists of top-seed Lindenwood, Texas Woman's (#2), SEMO (#3), Air Force (#4), Brown (#5), West Chester (#6), Yale (#7), and Southern Connecticut State (#8). 
 
The championship field has been officially set as of March 20, as the Redhawks claimed the third overall seed with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 195.050.

Southeast Missouri State Women's Gymnastics Heads to Denton, Texas to Compete in USAGs
Gymnastics will conclude 2023 season at the USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships (USAG).
 
This season, the Redhawks averaged 194.266 points in their regular season meets, which ranks second overall in the 11schools in the USAG.
 
Also ranking in second overall, SEMO highest score this season is 196.175 just behind fellow MIC member Lindenwood (196.275). 
 
Scouting the Opponent- Non-MIC Members
Brown University
Brown University has a 14-12 record before heading into the USAGs ranked 59th in the Road to Nationals. 
 
During Brown's regular season they averaged 193.920 a meet. They scored a 195.200 for their highest score of the season on Feb. 26th in the Ivy Classic.
 
In the conference championship, they finished fourth out of eight schools with a score of 193.750 which was their most recent match.
 
Cornell University
Cornell University went 7-11 in their regular season meets and is currently ranked 63rd according to Road to Nationals.
 
As a team Cornell averaged 192.100 throughout their season which is the 8th highest in the USAGs, while topping out at 193.575 on Feb. 19th, against West Chester in Ithaca, N.Y.
 
In Williamsburg, Va. Cornell competed in their "GEC" Conference Championship on Mar. 18th where they placed 6th out of 8 teams as they put up an even 193.000.
 
Southern Connecticut State University
SCSU held a record of 7-18 during their regular season matches while obtaining a current rank of 62nd in the Road to Nationals.
 
The Owls scored an official 193.925 in the 2023 season for their highest score dating back to Mar. 5th in the Temple Quad-Meet for the ninth highest score by a school heading into the USAGs, over twelve meets SC averaged 191.220 in the regular season.
 
At the "GEC" Championship Southern Connecticut finished eighth out of the eight teams in the meet scoring a 192.525. 
 
U.S Air Force Academy
The U.S Air Force competed in a total of ten meets during the 2023 regular season posting a record of 4-13. The Falcons currently rank 58th in the Road to Nationals and will compete in the NCAA Regionals before the USAG Collegiate Nationals.
 
Air Force in their regular season meets has averaged 194.010 over their ten meets. They reached a 195.650 for their highest score of the season against Sacramento State on Feb. 24th which ranks 3rd highest heading into the USAGs.
 
In the "MPSF" Conference Championship, they placed 3rd out of 5 schools, while scoring 195.475 at the meet.
 
University of Bridgeport
The Purple Knights of UB settled with a record of 8-15 over their 2023 regular season. Bridgeport currently holds the 65th spot on the Road to Nationals rankings.
 
Over the course of 11 meets they were able to score a 194.100 for their season high, which ranks eighth in the USAGs and averaged 190.350. 
 
At the "GEC" Championship at William & Mary they placed 7th out of the 8 schools with a score of 192.800.
 
West Chester University
WCU, located in West Chester, PA. held a record of 14-7 in the regular season and the Golden Rams are currently ranked 60th in the Road to Nationals.
 
During the span of their 11 regular season meets the Rams have averaged 192.980. On Feb. 19th, WCU scored their season-best against Cornell University with a 194.650 putting themselves in 6th for highest score in the USAGs.
 
In the Gymnastics East Conference at Kaplan Arena WCU placed 3rd out of the 8 teams scoring 194.075 in Williamsburg, VA. 
 
Yale University
The Yale Bulldogs recorded a 9-13 regular season over the span of 10 meets rounding out the last of the "GEC" conference teams. In the Road to Nationals the Bulldogs rank 61st .
 
In their 10 meets they reached a high of 194.250 on Jan. 23rd against UNC and UW-Stout in Chapel Hill, N.C., for 7th for the highest score coming into the USAGs. Yale averaged 193.010 in the regular season which ranks 6th in the USAGs. 
 
At the "GEC" Championship, Yale University placed 2nd out of the 8 schools in Williamsburg, Va., with a score of 194.200.
