Redhawks Extend Winning Streak to 10 Games with Series Sweep of Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Red-hot Ohio Valley Conference leader Southeast Missouri (24-9, 16-1) extended its winning streak to 10 games when it completed a three-game sweep of Lindenwood (12-23, 5-8) Sunday.

SEMO posted its fourth-straight series sweep and pushed its conference winning streak to 13 in a row.

The Redhawks were ahead, 9-0, when game two of their series was suspended due to inclement weather Saturday. SEMO started the day by picking up where they left off and finished that contest with a season-high 15 runs in another shortened five-inning victory.

SEMO has become quite fond of the run-rule as of late winning six of its last 10 contests in five or six innings.

The Redhawks scored five runs in each of the second and fifth innings to blow out the Lions.

Ahead, 1-0, Aubrie Shore led off the top of the second with a double to left center and later scored on a two-out single by Sydney Dennis. Tatum Gerwitz reached on an error and Jillian Anderson followed with a two-RBI double to left center scoring both Dennis and Gerwitz. Paige Halliwill followed with a RBI-single and Alyson Tucker then doubled home a run to push SEMO's lead to 6-0.

SEMO tacked on two more runs in each of the third and fourth innings before putting up five more in the fifth.

Dennis started things off with a single through the left side, stole second and touched home on a double by Anderson. After Halliwill added a RBI-double of her own, Shore hit her second home run of the game, a three-run blast, to put the Redhawks ahead, 15-0.

Delaney Kell picked up the win allowing only one hit and striking out three in three scoreless innings.

Shore went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, a pair of home runs and four RBI. She reached career-highs in home runs, hits, runs scored and RBI.

Halliwill went 3-for-3 with a career-best four runs scored and two RBI, while Anderson turned in two hits, two runs and three RBI. Dennis finished with two hits and two runs, as well.

SEMO scored all six of its runs in the sixth inning during its win in the series finale.

The Redhawks trailed, 1-0, before going on their game-winning spree.

Shore singled to center and pinch-hitter Zoe Schulte reached on a base hit. Dennis knocked in both Schulte and Shore on a single through the right side. Halliwill knocked in Dennis on a sacrifice fly before Tucker delivered a run-scoring single to left field. Kat Sackett doubled to right and Anderson scored. Shore came up again and singled to third allowing Tucker to score giving SEMO a 6-1 advantage.

The Lions managed to get three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough.

Kell (12-3) got her second win of the series. She went the distance giving up four runs on 10 hits. Kell also walked one and struck out four.

Abigail Rickermann went 3-for-3 to pave the way for SEMO. Dennis followed close behind with two hits.

SEMO returns to action when it visits Big 12 Conference member Iowa State for a doubleheader on Apr. 18.
