MOBILE, Ala. - Chris Johnson led the Redhawks during day two of the South Alabama Invite with two first place finishes. The Redhawks notched four new personal best and 29 top five finishes, including eight first place finishes to conclude the first outing of the 2023 Outdoor season.

The Women's team finished in second with 146 total points behind South Alabama.

The Men's team had 160 total points for second place, also finishing behind South Alabama.

Redhawks New Personal Bests
Laila Hardin and Leanza Dwaah both recorded new personal bests in the women's 400-meter. Hardin placed second with a time of 57.20 and Dwaah finished right behind her crossing the line at 57.98 (3rd).

In the Men's 100-meters, Chris Johnson finished with the fastest time and set a new PR crossing the line in 10.67. Johnson also picked up a third-place finish in the 200-meter with a time of 2.97.

The women's javelin saw Jaden Knight place first and finish with a new personal best throwing for 150'4" (45.82m).

Getting the Gold
Breanna Miles got the gold in the 400-meter finishing with a time of 56.63. Miles finished first in the 200-meter as well crossing the line at 24.44.

In the men's shot put Dylan Clark placed first with a throw of 52'10.75" (16.12m).

The Freshman Clara Billing found herself on top of the podium in the pole vault with a vault of 12'8" (3.86m).

Chris Johnson finished first again this time in the men's long jump. Johnson jumped 23'10.25" (7.27m).

Josiah Kilgore competed in the men's javelin finishing on top of the podium throwing for 191'11" (58.51m).

Notable Performances
Megan Aubuchon placed second with a time of 14.67 in the women's 100-meter hurdles.

The men's 110-meter hurdles saw Brock Wood place fourth and run a time of 15.19. Wood also ran the 400-meters and finished with a time of 51.80 (5th)

Redhawk Taylor Gudde crossed the line at 59.39 finishing in fifth in the women's 400-meter.

Brenden Parham placed fourth in the men's 400-meter finishing at 51.57.

Men's Discus saw Clay Alewelt place third (167' 5"), Dylan Clark finish in fourth (163'6"), and Marshall Swadley place fifth (152'3").

Marysa Flieg threw for 132'2" (40.29m) in the women's javelin placing fourth.

Serena Williams was the lone Redhawk to compete in the 100-meter dash. Williams placed fifth with a time of 12.13.

Women's Discus saw Mackenzie Williams and Megan Deimeke both compete. Williams finished with the bronze medal 156' 6" (47.71m) and Deimeke placed sixth 132' 1" (40.25m).

Leanza Dwaah placed fourth in the women's 200-meter (25.08).

In the men's pole vault Colin Beers jumped for a height of 14'9" (4.50m) for second.

The Redhawk pair of Marshall Swadley and Clay Alewelt took home the silver and bronze medal in the shot put. Swadley with a throw of 52'2.50" (15.91m) and Alewelt 50'5.50" (15.38m).

Serena Williams competed in the long jump placing second with a jump of 18'10.75" (5.76m).

Skylar Prescott got to the height of 10'6" (3.20m) placing third in the women's pole vault.

In the long jump Aarion Jackson picked up the bronze medal 22'11.25" (6.99m).

Looking Ahead
The Redhawks will head to Starkville, Miss. to compete in the Mississippi State Invite next Thursday, Mar. 23rd - 25th at the Mike Sanders Track Complex.
