Redhawks Resume OVC Play
Southeast Missouri (10-7, 3-0) resumes Ohio Valley Conference play when it heads to Tennessee State (12-11-1, 3-0) for a three-game series this weekend. SEMO and TSU will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday and a 1 p.m., CT single game Sunday.

Series History
Southeast Missouri holds a dominating 65-10 advanatage in its all-time series against Tennessee State. SEMO swept the Tigers in Cape Girardeau last season. The Redhawks hold a 14-game winning streak in their series against the TSU. SEMO is also 22-2 in its last 24 meetings with the Tigers.

OVC Co-Leaders
The Redhawks and Tigers are currently tied for first in the Ohio Valley Conference standings following one weekend of league play. Both teams swept their opponents at the start of their conference seasons. Southeast Missouri beat SIU Edwardsville in Cape Girardeau, while Tennessee State swept Lindenwood on the road. Eastern Illinois is also 3-0 in the OVC.

Davis Claims OVC Co-Pitcher of the Week Honors
Southeast Missouri left-hander Marisa Davis was named Ohio Valley Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week on Mar. 13. Davis, who hails from Kansas City, Missouri, registered a 2-0 record and 0.78 ERA in three appearances and one start to help lead Southeast Missouri to its series sweep of SIU Edwardsville. She allowed only one earned run and just two runs in nine total innings. She gave up just four hits and struck out nine in that span. Davis had a season-high four strikeouts vs. the Cougars in game three. The OVC Pitcher of the Week honor is the first of Davis' career.

Redhawk Rewind
The Redhawks dropped a 3-0 decision at Middle Tennessee during its first midweek game of the season on Mar. 15. Southeast Missouri enters this weekend after winning six of its last eight games.

Halliwill and Sackett Lead the Way
Outfielder Paige Halliwill and catcher Kat Sackett lead Southeast Missouri hitting .340 and .306, respectively, this season. Both have started all 17 games for the Redhawks thus far. Halliwill leads the team with 17 hits, nine runs scored and seven RBI, while Sackett tops the team with seven doubles.

Everyday Starters
Five Redhawks, including Paige Halliwill, Kat Sackett, Aubrie Shore, Alyson Tucker and Kynzie Wrigley have started all 17 games for Southeast Missouri in 2023. Halliwill started every game in center field, Wrigley has been in the starting lineup every game at third base and Shore has started all of SEMO's contests at first. 

How Sweep it Is
Southeast Missouri opened Ohio Valley Conference play with a series sweep for the second-straight year. SEMO took down SIU Edwardsville three times in Cape Girardeau last weekend. The Redhawks also swept Tennessee State to start the 2022 campaign.

Home Winning Streak
With its series sweep of SIU Edwardsville, Southeast Missouri pushed its home winning streak to 20 victories. SEMO won its final three home games of 2021, went undefeated at home with a 14-0 mark in 2022 and began its 2023 campaign with a 3-0 home record. 

Strong Pitching
Southeast Missouri leads the Ohio Valley Conference with a 2.47 ERA this season. SEMO pitchers have combined for six complete games, four saves and two shutouts through 17 contests. Marisa Davis is third among league leaders in ERA (1.93) and Delaney Kell is second in opposing batting average (.179). Meanwhile, Paytience Holman is tied for 10th in the OVC in strikeouts (29).

About Tennessee State
Tennessee State, picked eighth in the 2023 Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll, ranks second in the conference with 12 victories this season. TSU is second behind Southeast Missouri in the conference in pitching with a 2.96 ERA. The Tigers are also hitting .263 as a team and rank third in the OVC in batting average. Caitlyn Manus leads the league in innings pitched (87.2) and boasts a OVC best .143 opposing batting average for TSU.
