CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics is set to host the Midwest Independent Conference Championship on Friday, Mar. 17 in the final meet at Houck Field House in 2023. Competition is slated to start at 5:00 p.m., CT. in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
The MIC Championship will include Lindenwood, Texas Woman's, Illinois State, and Centenary (La.).
Last season, Texas Woman's captured the 2022 MIC Championship with a 195.750 team score ending a six-year Lindenwood winning streak.
The Redhawks finished fourth in last year's championship with an overall score of 193.425.
Reader Wins Honors
Nyah Reader of Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics was selected by the Midwest Independent Conference for 'Performance of the Week', the league announced Wednesday morning.
Reader, a Sophomore from Rexford, N.Y., set a new career-high on the Beam rotation Friday night at the Missouri Quad-Meet. Nyah, who rounded out the rotation from the sixth-slot in the Redhawks lineup, surpassed her previous best Beam score (9.850) and hit a 9.900.
For Reader, the award is her second weekly award in two weeks.
Last Time Out
Sophomore
Nyah Reader registered a career-best 9.900 on the Beam as the Redhawks recorded a 194.675 at the Missouri Quad-Meet last Friday night (3/10) to conclude the 2023 regular season.
Missouri took the top spot on Friday night, registering a team score of 197.250. The Ball State Cardinals took the second spot registering a 196.425 and the North Carolina Tar Heels finished third with a 196.275.
Taylor Ingle and
Lydia Webb competed in the all-around for SEMO on Friday night as Ingle recorded a 39.025 while Webb went for a 38.825.
BARS:
The Redhawks began the night on the Uneven Bars as freshman
Taylor Ingle and senior
Lindsey Moffitt tied for the lead with a 9.700 from the first and sixth spots in the rotation, respectively.
Huson, Montana-native
Lindsay Ockler, in the fifth spot, put up a 9.675. Ockler tied for second with
Janelle Lopez (9.675).
As a team, the Redhawks posted a 48.275 after the first rotation.
BEAM:
Sophomore
Nyah Reader, the reigning MIC Performance of the Week winner, set a career-high on the Beam with a 9.900. Reader rounded out the rotation for SEMO to lead the team after the Beam concluded.
Taylor Ingle (9.825),
Lydia Webb (9.800), and
Lindsey Moffitt (9.775) rounded out the top-three scorers for the Redhawks.
Senior
Molly Maxwell, who led off the Beam rotation, hit a 9.550 for SEMO.
Anna Speller hit a 9.200.
The Redhawks posted a 48.850 after the Beam rotation concluded.
FLOOR:
Madison Greene led the team on the Floor as the Redhawks third rotation turned to the big dance.
Greene hit a near-perfect 9.900 for the Redhawk second 9.900 of the day from the sixth and final spot of SEMO's floor rotation.
Molly Maxwell and
Lindsey Moffitt each hit a 9.800 from the second and fifth spots, respectively.
Taylor Ingle was second for the Redhawks on the floor, posting a 9.825, narrowly missing a season-best (9.850).
Junior
Lydia Webb rounded out the top scores for the Redhawks with a 9.750 as SEMO closed the Floor with a 49.075 team score.
VAULT:
The final rotation for SEMO came on the Vault as Crestwood, Ky.-native
Madison Greene led the Redhawks with a 9.800 from the fifth slot.
Lindsay Ockler, at number six, followed just behind Greene as she posted a 9.775, her second of the season (1/29; 9.775).
Webb rounded out the SEMO top-three with a 9.750 in the third spot of the rotation.

Nyah Reader (9.325) rounded out the Redhawks lineup as SEMO compiled a 48.475 Vault team score.

Lindenwood
Lindenwood, currently with a record of 9-9, is heading to Houck Field House for a second time this season where they will compete in the MIC Championship.
SEMO and Lindenwood tied 1-2 in the season with the Redhawks winning the most recent meet 194.500-193.800. The Lions lead the overall series 4-17 with SEMO breaking their losing streak of 17 last time they met.
Last time out for Lindenwood they won on the road against fellow MIC member, Centenary, by a final score of 194.925-192.375 in Shreveport, La. on Mar. 11, 2023.

ISU, holding a record of 10-10, will travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo. for the second time this season and face off against SEMO for the third time this season.
The Redbirds lead the season series 2-0 against the Redhawks this season and are 20-10 overall.
Last time these two schools met, was on Mar. 3, 2023 for Southeast's senior night where ISU won by a score of 195.025-195.000.
ISU has averaged 194.517 over 12 meets this season with a season-high coming on Feb. 11,2023 of 195.850 at the Metroplex Challenge.
Last time out for the Redbirds came on March 11, against Kentucky and Illinois where they lost 193.850-197.800 to Kentucky and 193.850-196.800 against Illinois.

The Texas Woman's gymnastics team holds a record of 8-12 in the season and will be traveling to Houck Field House for the second time this season.
The Pioneers are 0-1 against the Redhawks this season and SEMO leads overall 11-10 in the school's history.
Last time these two met was on Jan. 27, 2023 in Houck Field House when the Redhawks won by a score of 196.175-193.325.
The Pioneers last competed on March 12, in Denton, Texas as TWU came in fourth for the event losing to NC State, Florida, and Washington, while scoring a 195.575 at the Quad-meet.

The Redhawks lead the series 21-3 winning the last 8 against Centenary, with their last win coming back in 2019. Centenary has averaged 188.783 over their 9 meets this season.
