Redhawks Add Three Coaches to Football Staff

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Three coaches in Quin Jones, Kevon Beckwith and Cade Brister joined Southeast Missouri's football staff Tuesday.

Jones will coach the outside linebackers, Beckwith will coach the defensive line and Brister will be in charge of defensive quality control and serve as the team's video coordinator.

A native of Abbeville, Mississippi, Jones comes to SEMO after working as a defensive graduate at Texas Christian University (TCU), which played in FBS National Championship game this past January. Prior to that, he was in the same role at Southern Methodist (SMU, Fall 2021) and Midwestern State (Spring 2021).

Jones was a two-year starter at Stephen F. Austin and played two seasons at East Mississippi Community College. He accumulated 116 tackles, nine tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery as a linebacker with the Lumberjacks.

Beckwith, who hails from New Orleans, Louisiana, most recently coached at Louisiana Lafayette. There, he was a student-athlete, graduate assistant and quality control coach from 2014-19. He then worked as defensive line coach at former Ohio Valley Conference member Austin Peay (2020) and Northwestern State (2021), and was the run game coordinator an defensive line coach at Incarnate Word (2022).

A familiar face in the OVC, Brister joins the Redhawks from Lindenwood University, where he was a four-year starter and captain as the Lions' quarterback. Brister, who hails from O'Fallon, Missouri, earned First-Team All-OVC honors after leading the league with 3,065 passing yards and 27 touchdowns in 2022. He also topped the conference in total offense with 367.1 yards per game.
