
Track & Field in First Place Following Day One of OVC Championship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Breanna Miles broke the 200-meter school record again during day one of the OVC Indoor Championship. The Redhawks also finished day one with four first place finishes, 11 top three finishes, and seven new personal bests.
After the first day the women's team is in first with 58.50 total points, 28.50 points ahead of Tennessee Tech in second place with 30 total points.
The men's team is also in first with 64 total points, 22 points ahead of Eastern Illinois who is in second place with 42 total points.
School Record Again!
Breanna Miles breaks her own record in the 200-meter and sets a new PR. Miles previously broke the record at the PNC Bank Bellarmine classic on February 3rd when she ran a 24.28, but her new time of 23.93 is the new Southeast Missouri State record.
With that time Miles qualified for the finals and will race in the 200-meter finals tomorrow.
Miles also qualified for the finals in the 400 and 60-meter with times of 56.98 and 7.65.
On the Podium
Parker Feuerborn finished on top of the podium in the men's weight throw with a mark of 69' 11" (21.31m).
In the women's weight throw, Piper Klinger took home the gold with a mark of 61' 3" (18.68m) which earned her a new personal best.
Tanner Koontz placed first in the Pole vault with a vault of 15' 7" (4.75m).
Dylan Clark took home the silver medal in the weight throw. He threw 66' 10" (20.37m).
The Redhawk pair of Mackenzie Williams and Megan Deimeke placed second and third in the women's weight throw, while both achieving new PR's. Williams' throw was 60' 6" (18.43m) and Deimeke 59' 7" (18.16m).
Luke Hatfield Jackson captured the bronze medal in the long jump with 24' 5.25" (7.45m).
Men's pole vault saw Colin Beers take home a silver medal, he got to the height of 15' 1" (4.60m).
For the women's 5000-meter, Katie Wegmann placed second with a time of 17:33.12.
The women's distance medley team of Taylor Fox, Erika Mellor, Brianna Payton, and Hannah Eastman took the top spot on the podium with a time of 11:54.51.
The men's distance medley team of Terrico Garrett, Michael Weaver, Mark Crawford, and Noah Little took home the silver medal with a finishing time of 10:09.19
Day 1 PR's
Sophie Dubis recorded a new PR and a silver medal in the high jump. Her jump reached a height of 5' 6.25" (1.68m).
Laila Hardin earned a PR and qualified for the finals in the 400-meter, her time was 56.89.
Marshall Swadley finished in fourth and earned a new PR while throwing for a mark of 62' 1" (18.93m) in the weight throw.
Headed to the Finals
Megan Aubuchon and Clara Billing qualified for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, with times of 8.91 and 8.95.
In the Men's 60-meter hurdles Brock Wood qualified for the finals with a time of 8.43.
Daja Gordon and Leanza Dwaah qualified for the finals of the women's 60-meter dash. Gordon had a time of 7.69, and Dwaah 7.73.
Chris Johnson finished with a time of 6.94 in the 60-meter to qualify for the finals.
In the women's 800-meter Madalyn Gray, Taylor Fox, and Brianna Payton all qualified for the finals.
SEMO had two athletes qualify for the finals of the men's 800-meter, Terrico Garret, and Justin Splitt.
Daja Gordon qualified for the finals in the women's 200 with a run of 24.83.
Brenden Parham is headed to the finals in the men's 200 with a run of 22.04.
Other Notable Performances
After day 1 of the men's heptathlon Isaac Readnour is currently in fourth place, with a first-place finish in the heptathlon long jump (6.78m) and second place in the heptathlon high jump (1.86m).
Serena Williams finished eighth in the high jump with a jump of 5' 1.00" (1.55m).
The women's long jump saw Todjai Ross finish in sixth place with a jump of 17' 10.5 (5.45m).
Redhawk Clay Alewelt finished in sixth in the men's weight throw. Alewelt's mark was 57' 3" (17.44m).
Bailie Hux finished in fourth in the weight throw 56' 8" (17.27m).
Sullivan Gleason finished fourth with a vault of 14' 7.25 (4.45m) in the pole vault.
Day Two
The Redhawks are back in action tomorrow at the Birmingham Crossplex for day two of the Ohio Valley Indoor Championship. The pentathlon is the first event scheduled for tomorrow, slated for 9:00 a.m. The field events start at 11:00 a.m and the running events at 12:30 p.m. The awards presentation is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
