Redhawks Fall Friday Night 194.600-192.925 To Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. – Junior Lydia Webb finished first overall on the Beam with a 9.875 as SEMO gymnastics fell on Friday night to Illinois State by a final score of 194.600-192.925 in the first matchup of the season between the two.
Webb finished with a 38.800 All-Around score to lead the Redhawks and placed third in the meet behind Illinois State's Alana Laster (39.175) in second and Angelica Labat (39.225) in first.
MIC Gymnast of the Week Taylor Ingle finished with a 38.050 for the Redhawks in the All-Around.
The Redhawks began the evening on the Uneven Bars where 2022 MIC defending Bars champion Lindsay Ockler led the team with a 9.750 from the sixth spot. Ockler placed second overall for the meet behind ISU's Labat.
Janelle Lopez (9.625) and Lydia Webb (9.650) rounded out the top-three performers on Bars.
The Redhawks would turn to the vault in the second rotation where Madison Greene led the way with a 9.675 in the fifth slot of the lineup.
Ockler turned in a 9.650 from the sixth spot, and Sophomore Nyah Reader rounded out the SEMO top-three with a 9.625.
Taylor Ingle led off the Floor routine in the next SEMO rotation with a 9.675, which was a team-high on the Floor.
Webb and Reader rounded out SEMO's top three with a 9.650 and 9.625, respectively. Senior Lindsey Moffitt was tied with Reader at 9.625 for the Redhawks from the fourth spot in the rotation.
The Redhawks finished the night on the bar where Lydia Webb was first overall for the meet, turning in a 9.875. Webb, the Wylie, Texas-native, set a new personal-best on the Beam surpassing her previous high of 9.850.
Anna Speller, in the second spot, registered her career-best on the Beam with a 9.725. Ingle tied with Speller for second place as Molly Maxwell rounded out the top-three with a 9.450.
Gymnastics will return to action next Saturday, Feb. 25, when they take on Greenville. Competition is slated to begin at 7 p.m., CT. in Greenville, Ill.
