Redhawks Play to a 0-0 Draw Thursday Night Versus Southern Indiana

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Southeast Missouri soccer (6-5-4, 2-3-3 OVC) played to a 0-0 draw on Thursday night against Southern Indiana (4-6-7, 3-1-4 OVC) at Strassweg Field in Evansville, Ind. 
 
The Redhawks were outshot 11-9 in the contest as sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Elfrink recorded five saves and a shutout. 
 
The Redhawks were led offensively by senior midfielder Faith Liljegren. Liljegren, the Collinsville, Ill.-native, registered three total shots with two of them on target in 64-minutes of action. 
 
Early in the second half, midfielder Zoe Houston recorded SEMO's fifth shot of the contest that was turned aside by USI goalkeeper Anna Markland. Markland had five saves on the night, as both goalkeepers earned a tie to their record. 
 
Five different Redhawks recorded a shot in Thursday's contest. Zoe Houston recorded a pair of shots, both on target. Kiana Khedoo (one), Cayla Koerner (one), Maddie Paulson (one), and Alayna Jakul (one) all recorded a shot. 
 
Six Redhawks played the full 90-minute shift on Thursday night including the entire back line of SEMO's defense in Jakul, Paulson, and Natalie Jackson
 
Zoe Houston, Emma Brune, and Sophia Elfrink made up the other three as all six have played the full 90-minutes in Ohio Valley Conference play this season. 
 
USI's Alexis Schone led the Screaming Eagles offensively, recording four shots with just one on target. 
 
SEMO soccer will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 22, when they welcome in UT Martin on senior day. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m., CT. at Houck Field.
