CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri's women's tennis team will head to the 2023 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I Central Regional Championship this week. The tournament is scheduled for Oct. 12-16 at the Jayhawk Tennis Center in Lawrence, Kansas.
Maja Bajorek, Trinity Calinescu, Ewa Czapulak, Vivian Lai, Juliette Talieu and Lera Valeeva will compete in the singles qualifying draw Thursday. Daniela Hlacikova earned an automatic spot into the ITA Central Regional main singles draw.
So far this fall, Calinescu and Valeeva are unbeaten in singles with records of 7-0 and 6-0, respectively. Lai has only lost once and has a 6-1 record.
On the doubles side, Calinescu and Lai are 5-2 and Bajorek and Valeeva are 3-1.
As a team, SEMO is 31-11 in singles play and 10-10 in doubles action this fall.
This week marks the third fall competition for the Redhawks who also played in the Austin Peay Invitational (Sept. 22-24) and hosted their own Redhawk Invitational (Sept. 29-30).
After the ITA Tournament, SEMO will conclude fall play at Central Arkansas Oct. 27-28.
