CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri has an exciting group of wide receivers with the playmaking ability and athleticism to take this year's offense to a whole different level.
 
Sixteen receivers are on this year's roster and five of the six listed on the depth chart are upperclassmen.
 
"We always want to prove ourselves. We don't want to talk about what we're doing we want to show what we're doing," said Offensive Pass Game Coordinator Justin Drudik. "We have to be playmakers in order for this offense to be successful." 
 
Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference senior Johnny King is SEMO's top receiver. 
 
King, who hails from Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, caught 24 passes for a team-high 449 yards and five touchdowns in 2021. He averaged 18.7 yards per reception en route to claiming Second-Team All-OVC honors.
 
"Johnny is playing his best football since he's been here," said Drudik. "He has worked extremely hard and it's going to pay off for him in the long run."
 
Fellow senior Garrett Todd is behind King. 
 
Todd participated in 11 games, mainly on special teams last season. He had two receptions for 15 yards and a touchdown.
 
Newcomers Damoriea Vick and Ryan Flournoy are the other projected starters in the Redhawks three-receiver set.
 
Vick comes to SEMO after playing three seasons at Missouri State. He was voted as a co-captain prior to the 2021 campaign and earned Preseason All-Missouri Valley Football Conference accolades before the 2020-21 season. That year, Vick ranked 12th nationally and second in the MVFC in receiving.
 
Flournoy, like Vick, is also a junior. He was Iowa Western Community College's leading receiver with 32 catches for 545 yards and five touchdowns in 2021. He averaged 17 yards per reception as well.
 
"Damoriea and Ryan have good college experience," commented Drudik. "The best thing is that they have a great work ethic. They spend a lot of time away from football constantly working to get better and bring a lot to the receivers room."
 
Senior Pervis Frazier and sophomore Dalyn McDonald back up Vick and McDonald, respectively.
 
Frazier, who was limited due to injury, played in three games on special teams last season.
 
"Pervis is having a good camp and will play a lot of snaps," said Drudik. "He has fully recovered from his injury."
 
Meanwhile, McDonald joins the Redhawks after a two-year stint at Southwest Mississippi Community College. He registered 22 catches for 303 yards and two touchdowns in 2021.
 
"Dalyn is electric with the ball in his hands. He has great speed and a really good skill set that complements our other guys well," added Drudik.
 
The rest of SEMO's receivers include junior Zach Martin, sophomore Justin Mitchell and freshmen Jackson Bray, Jalen Blackburn, Shamar Williamson, Kyron Downing, Jaylan West, Jaelyn Marsh, Jack Clinkenbeard and Octavius Henderson.
