CHARLESTON, Ill. – Southeast Missouri (34-19, 16-8) fell to Eastern Illinois (33-19, 11-12), 5-1, Saturday in the regular-season finale at Coaches Stadium.
EIU scored four runs in the second inning, where it sent 10 hitters to the plate and had five hits.
The Redhawks only run of the game came in the top of the seventh, where
Lincoln Andrews hit a solo home run to right center cutting EIU's lead to 5-1.
SEMO had four hits with
Brett Graber,
Ty Stauss, Andrews and
Danny Sperling getting one each.
Collin Wilma (0-2) took the loss. Wilma allowed four runs on six hits, walked two and struck out three in 1.2 innings.
EIU outhit the Redhawks, 8-4.
Second-seeded SEMO will open play at the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament against the winner of #3 Morehead State and either #6 Tennessee Tech/#7 Murray State on Thursday, May 26. First pitch is set for 2 p.m., CT at Wild Health Stadium in Lexington, Kentucky.
The rest of this year's OVC Tournament field includes, #1 Belmont, #4 EIU, #5 SIU Edwardsville and #8 Austin Peay.
