Redhawks Stumble in Series-Opening Loss to UT Martin

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri (31-17, 13-6) fell in its series-opener to UT Martin (11-32, 4-18) by a score of 10-3 Friday night at Capaha Field.

Down, 3-1, after four-and-a-half innings, SEMO tied the game in the bottom of the fifth.

With two outs, Tyler Wilber hit a two-RBI double to right center. Lincoln Andrews, who reached on a walk, and Jevon Mason, who was hit by a pitch, each scored to knot things up at 3-3.

UTM quickly answered by scoring four runs on five-straight hits to reclaim a 7-3 advantage. Four of those hits were singles and the other was a two-RBI double by Wil Lafollette.

A run-scoring double by Blaze Bell and two-RBI double by Jack Culumovic tacked on three more runs for UTM in the ninth inning.

Skyhawk pitching did not allow a hit or run for the final four innings of the contest and limited SEMO to just four hits for the night.

Brett Graber went 2-for-3 with two singles for half of the Redhawks hits, while Ty Stauss and Wilber followed with one apiece.

Meanwhile, UTM collected 14 hits.

Tucker Reed (2-3) claimed the win out of the UTM bullpen. Reed struck out seven and walked one in 3.2 scoreless no-hit innings.

Jason Rackers (4-3) was charged with the loss. Rackers matched a season-high with seven strikeouts and allowed five runs on seven hits in five innings.

The Redhawks and Skyhawks continue their series at 2 p.m., CT Saturday. SEMO will honor its seniors prior to first pitch.
