EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIU Edwardsville (18-30, 9-16) completed a series sweep with 9-1 and 3-2 victories over Southeast Missouri (24-22, 13-10) Sunday afternoon at Cougar Field.

SIUE scored in all but one inning in its game one victory.

The Cougars built a 5-0 lead over the first three innings and scored twice more in each of the fifth and sixth frames to finish off its shortened six-inning win.

SEMO's only run of the contest came on an infield RBI-single by Kelby Robinson in the top of the fifth.

The Redhawks had just three hits with Robinson, Kaylee Anderson and Tatum Gerwitz each getting a single.

Defensively, SEMO committed four errors.

Paytience Holman dropped to 5-5 in the circle. Holman gave up five runs on eight hits, struck out four and walked one in 2.1 innings.

In the nightcap, Lexi King scored the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly by Lauryn Yslava to send SIUE to a 3-2 win in 10 innings.

King led off the inning with a single and made it to third with the help of a walk and fly out before crossing home plate on Yslava's fly out to center.

Paige Halliwill scored a game-tying run in the top of the sixth to send the game to extra innings. Halliwill touched home on a sacrifice fly by Aubrie Shore to knot things up at 2-2.

The Redhawks tied the game at 1-1 earlier in the contest when trailing by a run on Shore's leadoff home run in the second.

Marisa Davis (4-6) took the loss in relief. Davis gave up one run on one hit and walked one in two-thirds of an inning.

Rachel Rook started game two and pitched 8.2 innings with nine strikeouts. Rook also allowed two runs on five hits and walked one.
