ITHACA, N.Y. - Southeast Missouri women's gymnastics notched a program-best beam score of 49.425 in the fourth and final rotation to total a team score of 193.700 for third in the first 2022 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships Semifinal Friday afternoon at the Newman Arena at Bartels Hall.
Air Force (194.550) and Lindenwood (193.800) went one-two in the first semifinal to advance to Saturday's Team Finals. West Chester was fourth, finishing with 193.425.
SEMO fought to the bitter end and registered its program-best beam score of 49.425 in the final rotation Friday.
The mark surpassed 49.375 which was achieved for the second time in school history at last year's 2021 USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate National Championships (April 10, 2021) when the Redhawks utilized the score in the last rotation to propel themselves past Lindenwood to earn the Team Championship.
The Redhawks didn't score lower than a 9.800 on beam in the final rotation Friday en route to setting a new program-high on the event.
Molly Maxwell led off with a 9.850 which matched her career-high set at the 2021 USAG National Championship.
Anna Speller added a 9.800 in the second slot.
Nyah Reader and
Lydia Webb then both tied their personal highs with 9.850 and 9.875, respectively, in the third and fourth lineup positions.
The mark was Reader's seventh beam score of 9.700 or higher in 2022.
Jolie Miller and
Anna Kaziska rounded out the rotation with career-highs that etched their names in the SEMO record books.
Miller's career-best 9.900 tied for eighth all-time in Redhawk history. She improved on her 9.850 set in 2021 at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at last year's Championships.
Kaziska, a senior from Louisville, Kentucky, improved on her career-best 9.925 posted at last year's 2021 USAG Championships, finishing with a 9.950 Friday. She still ranks second all-time at SEMO on the event behind head coach
Ashley Lawson's (then Godwin) 9.975 (3/29/2003).
The score was Kaziska's 11th beam mark of 9.775 or higher in 2022.
Kaziska, Miller and Webb combined for the top-three scores on beam in the first Semifinal Friday. Maxwell and Reader tied for fifth in the first of two sessions.
SEMO opened the first semifinal of the 2022 USA Gymnastics National Championships with a 49.000 on floor.
Kaziska, the 2022 Midwest Independent Conference Senior Athlete of the Year, tied for the top spot in Semifinal #1 with a 9.900 on floor. The mark was her 11th straight score of 9.800 or higher in 2022 and fifth 9.900 or higher this campaign.
Madison Greene added a 9.850 which tied for third in the session. It was her eighth score of 9.800 or higher on floor in 2022.
Maxwell added a 9.800 and Webb finished with 9.775.
Lindsay Ockler notched a 9.675 and Reader had 9.650 in the opening two lineup slots.
The Redhawks added a 47.950 on vault in the second rotation.
Greene led the way with her second-straight 9.725, matching her personal best set at the 2022 MIC Championship on March 18.
Greene, a freshman from Crestwood, Kentucky, previously made her Redhawk debut on the discipline in the regular-season finale at Illinois State on March 12.
Janelle Lopez chipped in a 9.675 and Ockler had 9.650.
Reader added a 9.550 and Maxwell posted a 9.350.
In the third rotation, SEMO posted a 47.325 on bars.
Ockler and Miller, the 2022 MIC Bars Champions, tied for the top spot in the Semifinal with consecutive 9.850s, secured in the fourth and fifth lineup slots.
Webb compiled a 9.750 to tie for fifth in the session and
Ashley Albrecht tallied a 9.350.
Webb finished the all-around competition with 38.475 for fifth in Friday's afternoon session and Maxwell totaled 37.525 (sixth).
SEMO's 2022 NCAA Regional Qualifiers,
Jolie Miller and
Anna Kaziska, along with
Lindsay Ockler,
Lydia Webb and
Madison Greene have all qualified for Sunday's 2022 USA Gymnastics Event Finals as they all finished in the top-five in the first session.
Ockler, Miller and Webb will compete on bars. Kaziska, Miller and Webb will represent the Redhawks on beam and Greene will join Kaziska on floor Sunday.
Kaziska won the 2021 USA Gymnastics Beam Championship with a 9.912. She also was the runner-up in 2021 on floor with 9.875. Miller tied for third overall on bars with a 9.812 at the 2021 USAG Individual Event Finals.
It will be Kaziska's third career USAG Individual Event Finals while it is Miller's second appearance. Ockler, Webb and Greene will compete in their first career USAG Individual Event Finals Sunday.
Apparatus titles will be up for grabs starting at 12 p.m., CT.
Texas Woman's, the 2022 MIC Champion, will compete in the evening session (second of two) on Friday at 6 p.m., CT against #4 Yale, #5 Brown, and host Cornell. Air Force and Lindenwood will face the top two teams from that session in the Team Final Saturday at 6 p.m., CT.
