COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri (14-13, 3-3) dropped its series finale to Tennessee Tech (20-9, 3-3) by a score of 2-0 Sunday afternoon.
TTU struck first with a run in the bottom of the second inning. Sydney Love-Baker led off with a single, went to second on a fielder's choice and later scored on an infield single by Shelby Penning.
Singles by
Tori Bradley and
Kat Sackett along with a two-out walk by
Sydney Melton loaded the bases to give SEMO its best scoring opportunity in the top of the fourth. However, the Redhawks came up empty after a fly out ended the inning.
The Golden Eagles tacked on one more run on a two-out single by Savannah Talley in the bottom of the sixth.
Kynzie Wrigley reached on a two-out single and
Kaylee Anderson represented the tying run at the plate in the top of the seventh, but a strikeout silenced the threat.
Marisa Davis (2-3) gave up just one run and walked one in five innings for SEMO.
Haeli Bryson (3-2) picked up the win. Bryson went the distance allowing six hits and recording two strikeouts in her complete game shutout.
SEMO finished with six hits, including one each from Wrigley, Anderson,
Paige Halliwill, Bradley, Sackett and Melton.
The Redhawks return to action when they make a short trip to Southern Illinois for a midweek matchup on Mar. 30.
