Redhawks Drop First Midweek Tilt to Ole Miss, 7-4

OXFORD, Miss. – Freshman Tori Bradley went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI as Southeast Missouri (5-6) fell to Southeastern Conference member Ole Miss (13-4), 7-4, Wednesday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.

Bradley posted her third multiple-hit game of the season and extended her hitting streak to three games.

SEMO used back-to-back doubles to plate the game's first run in the top of the first inning. Kaylee Anderson doubled to right center and Bradley followed with a first-pitch double in the same spot to score Anderson.

Ole Miss sent seven hitters to the plate in a three-run second to take its first lead. With runners at first and second, Nyomi Jones reached on a bunt single and Mikayla Allee scored an unearned run with the help of an error. On the next play, Bre Roper delivered a two-out single to score two more runs giving the Rebels a 3-1 advantage.

The Redhawks immediately answered to tie things up in the top of the third.

Alyson Tucker led things off with a single and went to second when Anderson was hit by a pitch. Bradley stepped in and delivered her second hit of the game, a single through the right side, and Tucker scored. After a pitching change, Kat Sackett singled off reliever Catelyn Riley and Anderson touched home to make it 3-3.

Ole Miss regained the lead in the home half of the third when Allee hit a two-run home run to straightaway center with two outs. Allee's homer put the Rebels ahead, 5-3.

The Rebels tacked on two more runs with the help of a run-scoring infield single and bases loaded walk to stretch their lead to 7-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Bradley reached once more in the seventh on an error and Tatum Gerwitz scored the game's final run.

Rachel Rook (4-3) suffered the loss for SEMO. Rook struck out one, walked one and allowed five runs on five hits.

Catelyn Riley (2-1) was credited with the win. Riley recorded five strikeouts and gave up one run on three hits in five relief innings.

Ole Miss collected 10 hits with Allee going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.

The Redhawks finished with eight hits.
