CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Jaliyah Green scored 13 points to lead three players in double figures as Southeast Missouri (6-22, 2-15) fell to UT Martin (12-16, 9-8), 70-49, Thursday night at the Show Me Center.
Green shot 50 percent from the field (5-of-10) en route to her sixth double-digit scoring effort of the season.
Kennedi Watkins and
Halle Smith followed with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
SEMO never led and UTM used a 22-point second quarter to take a 40-21 lead at the half.
The Skyahwks, who held an eight-point lead after the game's first 10 minutes, outscored the Redhawks, 22-11, in the second period and never looked back.
UTM used a 12-2 run in the first 3:49 of the second quarter and stretched its lead to 30-12 on a 3-pointer by Ella Thompson.
Taelour Pruitt's two free throws made it a 14-point game at the 3:07 mark before the Skyhawks carried their double-digit lead into the intermission.
The Skyhawks made seven 3-pointers and shot 63.6 percent (7-of-11) beyond the arc in the first half. Holly Forbes dropped in 15 points during the opening 20 minutes of play.
UTM led by as many as 30 with 5:16 remaining in the fourth quarter before closing out its victory.
Smith made a perfect 5-of-5 field goals and grabbed five rebounds, while Watkins made a near-perfect 5-of-6 free throws and led the Redhawks with six boards.
SEMO shot 40 percent (18-of-45) for the game.
Additionally, the Redhawks committed 21 turnovers which UTM converted into 25 points. The Skyhawks outscored the Redhawks, 25-8, in points off turnovers.
Forbes led UTM with a game-high 19 points followed by three other Skyhawks in double-digits.
The Redhawks wrap up their 2021-22 campaign at home against Murray State Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m., CT.
