CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay (8-14, 4-8) made 12 three-pointers and never trailed in a 74-66 win over Southeast Missouri (11-14, 6-6) Thursday night at the Dunn Center.
 
APSU outscored SEMO, 36-15, from 3-point range en route to avenging a loss to the Redhawks earlier this season.
 
SEMO started slow missing eight of its first nine field goals in the first half.
 
Nygal Russell's second-chance layup cut APSU's lead to 8-7 nearly seven minutes in and the Redhawks were within four or less points a total of 13 times in the opening 20 minutes of play.
 
Parker Long drained the Redhawks first 3-pointer of the contest close the Governors lead to 27-23 at the 5:22 mark. Prior to that make, APSU had outscored SEMO, 21-0, from long range.
 
A 3-pointer by DQ Nicholas later made it a four-point game (35-31) again with a little under two minutes left before APSU answered by scoring six of the final seven points to take a 41-32 lead at the half.
 
Both teams combined to go scoreless for over eight minutes in the second half.
 
SEMO trimmed APSU's lead to 53-48 when Russell made two free throws with 8:33 to go. That, however, was as close as the Redhawks would get.
 
APSU led by 11 points twice when Tariq Silver knocked down a 3-pointer and Elton Walker threw down a dunk off an alley-oop before the Governors finished off their eight-point win.
 
SEMO scored under 70 points for the third time in four games. 
 
Phillip Russell led the Redhawks with a game-high 18 points, while N. Russell turned in a double-double 11 points and 13 rebounds. For N. Russell, it was his third double-double of the season. DQ Nicholas, who missed Monday's game due to COVID protocols, added 14 points off the bench.

Eric Reed, Jr., who was also out at SIU Edwardsville (COVID protocols) earlier this week, played 29 minutes.
 
The Redhawks shot just 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from downtown and matched a season-high 11 missed free throws (17-of-28). Their five 3-pointers made tied a season-low.
 
Silver led APSU with 18 points, including 12 from long range. Carlos Paez chipped in 10 points for the Governors, as well.
 
SEMO returns home to host Belmont Saturday. The Bruins are tied for second in the Ohio Valley Conference standings with an overall record of 21-5 and 11-2 in league play.
