COOKEVILLE, Tenn. –
Paytience Holman pitched a two-hit complete game shutout to lead Southeast Missouri (5-9, 3-1) to a 7-0 victory over Tennessee Tech (8-8, 3-1) Friday afternoon at Tech Softball Complex.
Holman picked up her first win of the season as SEMO handed the Golden Eagles their first Ohio Valley Conference loss.
Ahead, 2-0, the Redhawks blew the game open with a five-run fifth inning.
Kaylee Anderson doubled to center and scored on a home run by
Ashley Ellis.
Kimmy Wallen kept things going with a two-out single to left field, stole second and scored on a double by
Kynzie Wrigley.
Rachel Anderson's two-RBI single up the middle knocked in both Wrigley and
Alyson Tucker to make it a 7-0 contest.
TTU's only hits against Holman came in the second and fifth innings.
Holman (1-4) struck out two and walked two in seven scoreless innings. It was the fourth complete game of her career.
Offensively, SEMO pounded out 10 hits. R. Anderson and Wallen paved the way with two hits each. For Ellis, the home run was her third of the season and 37th in her career.
Game two of Friday's doubleheader was suspended with SEMO leading, 4-1, and two outs in the top of the fourth inning.
K. Anderson hit a pair of home runs to get the Redhawks their three-run advantage. The rest of that game will be played at 10 a.m., CT before the series finale Saturday.
