Redhawks Fall to Saint Louis

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Taelour Pruitt scored 18 points and Deanay Watson added 10 points and eight rebounds as Southeast Missouri (2-6) fell to in-state foe Saint Louis (2-5), 83-54, Friday night at the Show Me Center.

Pruitt drained four 3-pointers in her fourth double-digit game of the season.

SLU put together a 14-2 run in the final 6:40 of the first half to take a 37-22 halftime lead.

SEMO shot just 18 percent on only 3-of-16 field goals and scored only seven points in the second quarter. Pruitt had 11 of her points in the first half.

The Redhawks finished strong by scoring 18 points on 7-of-16 field goals at a 43.8 percent clip during the fourth quarter. Halle Smith came on to score seven of SEMO's last 18 points of the contest.

For the game, SEMO shot 32.3 percent (21-of-65) from the field and was outrebounded, 52-32.

Smith pitched in nine points and Shymaryia Christopher contributed eight points for the Redhawks, as well.

SLU, which posted 16 offensive rebounds, was led by Ciaja Harbison's 21 points. Brooke Flowers turned in a double-double 19 points and 18 rebounds to go along with five blocks and five assists. Meanwhile, Kiley Bess, a native of Poplar Bluff, added 18 points in the first double-digit scoring game of her career.

The Redhawks were without two of their starters in Kennedi Watkins and Jaliyah Green. Watkins missed her first start of the season due to concussion protocol, while Green was out of the starting lineup for the first time with a leg injury.

SEMO continues its season-long four-game homestand when it welcomes Harris-Stowe Sunday.
