CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.– A record 58 teams participated in the 37th Annual Charlie Brune Golf Classic on a gorgeous day at the Cape Girardeau Country Club Monday.
Two flights took to the links for a fun day of golf during the yearly outing that contributes all proceeds to Southeast Missouri's Department of Athletics.
"I want to sincerely thank everyone who joined us for today's event," said Director of Athletics Brady Barke. "This is our signature golf fundraiser each year and we are fortunate we were able to have it. It was a great day and we can't do what we do without the avid support of our community."
The Charlie Brune Golf Classic is traditionally held during the summer each year, but this year's event was postponed to today due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A total of 28 teams played in the early morning flight while 30 more followed for the afternoon round of golf. SEMO face coverings were given to each participant, social distancing was practiced and other COVID-19 guidelines were followed to ensure the safety and welfare of all involved.
